  1. Hurt my back, but I think I’m gonna order a few exhaust parts and the valve cover gasket. And the fenders from Keyav8r. Can anyone vouch for him? Can’t help but wonder... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Now that I’ve got the brake released, what’s my next move? I released the parking brake by removing the equalizer and locknut from the rod. I believe it’s the main cable that’s broken, and broken up near the pedal. Before I release it, the pedal was still functioning like it normally would, aside from releasing the brake. 3. I don’t have the space or resources to store the seat and rip the carpet up, just yet. Stay tuned. Tore the lights up again to test the right side hi beam. Just a bulb, thankfully. Edit: gave everything a good whiff of contact cleaner and finished swapping the headlights, and sure enough the high beams on both sides are working. Went for a drive before I tore the lights out. I’m not sure how bad the gas gauge is off, but it’s off. By a quarter of a tank, I think. When the tank is full, it goes well past the full indicator. It’s gotten just under the quarter tank mark twice and shut off on me while at an idle. Guess this would be a good time to take it out for a ride with a couple gallons in a can. 4. a little bit of “life happens” happened today. But I got the parking light sockets temporarily installed. Probably doesn’t matter. I think my first move going forward is to address the moisture in the cab. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Thanks for the input. I was able to release the brake using eagle’s suggestion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. good deal for 8 bucks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Parking lamp sockets arrived from Quadratec. Plan to install them on Sunday. Have to make room to store the bench seat before I can rip the carpet up. Hoping to start that on Tuesday. Found a member with some stock rear fenders for 40 bucks, shipped. Will probably nab those and order the Euratecs this weekend. Narrowed down the running list to the priorities: Lights Ground refresh Moisture in cab Suspension/alignment/steering Parking brake Driver side door check Fuel leak Blow by Exhaust Leaking seals I’ve had the truck for 6 weeks. So far, I’ve driven it a thousand miles, compiled a list of known issues, and almost restored function to the lights. Gonna try and pick up some steam over these next few weeks. 10. Parking brake cable broke (haven’t narrowed it down yet). Thanks to eagle and the following thread, I got the parking brake released. https://comancheclub.com/topic/58741-parking-brake-stuck/?tab=comments#comment-602889 The two cables that split off to the wheels appear to be intact and I think it’s the main cable that’s broken. 11. Where was the moisture coming from? Are there any spots I should check? I’ve driven in the rain and don’t see any obvious leaks, but I know that doesn’t mean squat... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I didn’t pull it back much, but I did notice some moisture... no standing water, but the rubber was damp. I’m debating if I wanna use this as an opportunity to address that as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. lol. I guess it’s a matter of prioritizing what work I do on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Actually, the mechanism (pedal and release) work fine, but they’re just not releasing the actual parking brake. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Pulled the trim off and some of the carpet and rubber up to see if there is a way to manually release it. No dice. I feel like I read something about it on here, but none of the parameters I’ve searched returned any results. Haynes seems like a lot of work I don’t have time for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Went to move my MJ today and found that my parking cable broke and the emergency brake is stuck. Didn’t have the time to release it.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Welcome to the club! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Looking for the steering wheel/column trim. It’s cylindrical, has tabs on one end. Like to find one in gray with tabs intact. Edit: not concerned with color. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I’ve yet to do anything with the right high beam. Might pull it a part tonight after work. I’m hoping it’s not a power issue and hopefully just a bulb! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Drove about 20 miles today, moved a couch at that! No leaks from the valve cover where I replaced the vacuum hoses/grommets. Found a side marker bulb in dad’s box of bulbs. Was hoping to find an 1157... no dice, a couple of 1157A’s though. I’ll pick one up from work tomorrow. Exterior light woes are just about taken care of. Just need to figure out why the right side high beam isn’t functioning before moving onto the map lights. Initially I was gonna leave the the MJ as is and just fix the few quirks it has to make it a decent daily. But I got to thinking about how a 97+ swap is a big project and is way out in the future. So, I created a couple of carts on teamcherokee and quadratec with stuff that when coupled with a new carpet, headliner, fender flares, and reupholstered bench seat, will refresh the interior and exterior and really bring this MJ back to it’s prime. Also thinking about losing the decals and getting a set of replica Pioneer decals. Next update: replacing parking lamp sockets. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Thanks for the heads up. One of the housings is broken and won’t stay in place. I figured I could sell off the good one(maybe even the broken one too) and it’ll pay for the Euratecs. Can you put LED bulbs in the Euratecs? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Checked the front light harness connector and while it was pretty dirty, it’s not melted out, nor is it showing any signs of melting. Unplugged and sprayed contact cleaner on a bunch of other connectors in the engine bay as well. On my way to the JY with dad, mainly cause he’s a hermit and needs to get out of the house... maybe I’ll get lucky. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Quick update before bed. Lights currently not working (and probable solutions): top rear left brake lamp (bulb) front parking lamps (sockets) right high beam (?) hvac controller illumination (?) cabin lamps (Euratec A-7180 swap) shift indicator (found out this is not a light, but a mechanically or vacuum controlled??? bar that hovers over the gear that’s selected). More on shift indicator: Half of the tabs on the steering wheel trim are broken and I got to fiddling with it when I had the dash apart for the headlight switch. I noticed the indicator moving some. It settled in reverse when I was in drive and then moved back into the abyss when I put it in park. I have some minor suspension/steering/alignment issues, so I think I’m gonna put this on the backburner. Plan is to fix what I’ve found solutions for regarding the lights, check the connector from the engine harness to the front headlamp harness per cruiser’s tip, and refresh the grounds - I noticed the one behind the rear left light housing was painted over, and that can’t be good. Once all that’s finished, I’ll move on to the remaining lights. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
