  1. Thanks very much. Comanche club rocks
  2. The motor works and surely needs cleaning. Can you note a reference in your log that I can follow?
  3. I am reading your Comanche build log. Nice work. Detail is supreme. I just got to the place where you mention the window. If I could find a snake replacement I might be happy.
  4. The snake is damaged. Window will rise to a certain point then stop. Motor continues to run. Some splines on the snake are missing.
  5. Snake frame is different. Mounting flange on motor and other hole patterns are wrong. Electrical connector is wrong.
  6. The drivers side power window needs replacement. I have ordered 2 parts (1 from dorman and 1 from salvage). Neither fits. The car part listing says that Cherokee is compatible but its not. Is the common model the Wagoneer in 1987? The assembly on the bottom is what I removed. The other one is the Dorman part.
  7. Hello Comanche Chieftains. 87 Comanche: I replaced the ignition power switch on the steering column. This solved the immediate issues but....How do I fix it so there is not a melting switch failure again? For several days after the replacement I have burning and melting smells. I read about poor designs but can it be fixed? I am running out of nickels and dimes.. I do wish to sell it to get a Grand Cherokee that will meet my needs. Straight trade is OK.
  8. Good afternoon. My 87 Comanche had the same issues. I did most of the ground refresh list with no improvement. I also removed the connector block under the hood. No change. Finally the forum masters found a reference to the main power switch connected to the ignition key switch. This switch is on the steering column. It wasn't much fun to replace and I still need to adjust the whole thing but the intended functions have been fixed. Now my brake lights are always on unless I unplug 1 brake switch wire. I noticed the switch was really warm. Good luck to you. Hope this helps.
  9. Pay attention to electrical systems. My first Comanche burned under the hood. My newest one has melted the steering column ignition power switch.
  10. TY. Please close
  11. Can someone detail the large aluminum "fuses". Thanks to you.
  12. TY. Here's a pic for you
  13. How do I kill the wipers? The switch is bad and the wipers go all the time... Until I can replace the switch.
  14. Pics and praise.... Everything works now except the horn. Almost ready to sell. Thanks Cruiser54. Case closed. Hail Comanche Club!
  15. You da mack. Flawless victory
  16. OK, I am tracking the problem down. The symptoms: No horn, blinkers, radio, heater/ac or wipers. They all used to work and they all stopped at the same time. The truck runs fine. The flashers work fine. Fuses all tested for continuity. Horn replaced, Blinker switch removed and cleaned. Radio lights up only for the eject function then goes dark again. Other actions: Remove C101 Refresh grounds: drivers side under dash and near the washer tank/air cleaner. Passenger side both at blower and near the relay bank. Engine (center) to firewall. Engine block stud, (2 wires here). I reviewed the diagrams supplied by hosts and others (TY). A bad ground seems likely or a common power relay? Any others thoughts? TY in advance.
  17. I purchased a replacement proportioning valve online. The brake safety switch leaks so I plugged that port. Anyone know of a replacement switch supplier?
  18. I am missing this. Any referrals? TY P
