MJ Update: Not a speck of body putty was found and I have yet to find any rot! What was (Hunter Green Rustoleum, Home Depot grade) for 10 years is now Dead Rat, Flat Black (Automotive, Eastwood grade.) Stripped to bare metal, 2k primer, then paint. Next is the cab... a three-day weekend and conducive weather should give me a great chance of getting the rest of it, under new paint!!!

My Dirtbound Offroad Battery Tray...
KANTANKRUS replied to KANTANKRUS's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think, I will stick with the tray idea. 6,000 pounds is not enough for the sticky mud of PA. -

My Dirtbound Offroad Battery Tray...

I won't be permanently installing my winch... I will be running a receiver tray, for when I think I may need the winch. Otherwise, it will reside in the bed, inside a firmly secured metal and weather tight box. Along with other gear such as snatch blocks and so on. I choose to do it this way, as I want the appearance of a nice and clean looking exterior. I have no interest in being like every other person out there, that want to be 'hey look at me, my truck has a winch' I love the original look of our MJ's Yes, I have XJ fenders and header panel, but they are only stock in case something like an accident occurs, then that is when they will be installed. -

Bedside one done. It was stripped down to bare metal, then 2k primer, then Dead Rat Flat Black. This is what I really wanted to accomplish today. I also sprayed its tailgate. An FYI: the black is only the base color of a future camo paint scheme. I bought a stencil kit from Red Leg Camo, the stencil kit is called Wraith <-- in case anyone want to check it out. Although, I will not be using the normal colors of a camo scheme... they are to blah to me... my camo will be using (red/silver/gold and blue) I will fine tune things on another day.

I want to replace all of the fasteners, in all of my interior trim. I am in the process of changing the color from honey to a charcoal gray. I wish to have the types, sizes and thread pitch if possible. Materials used: Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric paint. Part *HVP111 with Duplicolor Adhesion Promoter Personal Opinion: I love this stuff and it almost makes my interior trim look like it is covered in leather.

He is a young buck, and he is chasing tail, so his truck is not a priority... lol! He will get back to me, at some point! I just sent him a text, asking him to not only reply but also to crawl under his MJ and snap some photos of just what we are actually dealing with. -

My friend was in an area, with very poor cell signal, so he didn't respond until he got back to civilization late last night. Now he is at work... so his reply must now wait, yet again. -
Check valve, within the fuel system...
KANTANKRUS replied to KANTANKRUS's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
ITS ALIVE!!! The things I don't know, astounds me at times. My friend Mike Dice who is, first and foremost... a true friend, but also a true mechanic (not just a 'parts installer') informed me that I needed to toggle the ignition two dozen times, plus bleed to Schrader valve, to release the air from the fuel system... yep my MJ is now back to running again. Note: After replacing the fuel filter. 20230625_144621.mp4 -

Oh, I am just repeating what he called it. Were is this 'clutch switch' located? -
*** Asking for a friend, where can he get a Neutral Safety Switch for the above truck, with the stated equipment?
-
Either way, my entire fuel system is slated to be rebuilt. I see that Rock Auto offers new steel gas tanks for our trucks, along with fuel pump. filter sock and tank straps. I will also replace all of the fuel lines and get 4 port fuel injectors.

The manufacturer, only placed 3 short beads around the circumference of that cylinder and where the welds were not, weakened the steel. IMHO, that was not to smart AMC/Jeep! -
Hey one more thing, where is cruiser54's tips stowed away on this site? Some of my medical issues have finally been dealt with and therefore I want to begin turning wrenches on my truck. Its not the CPS, I think it's the check valve in the gas tank. After cycling the ignition 3 to 4 times, that truck started decently and is not revving. Although, I will check the CPS eventually!
