Overland Built Manche...on going

Steal away lol. I had the idea for a long time and I got some inspiration from a lot of guys with toyotas. They build dual swingouts all the time have some clever ideas. I have a lot more pictures I'm pretty sure. I can show you what I did and what I'd change. Just PM any questions you got. Take a look at ruff stuff and there bumper tire carrier kit. I just ordered another hindge for the dual swing out. They were over kill for sure but worked great. -

Lol thanks. Time off for the new kid and holidays helped. 3.5" metal cloak game changer lift, falcon 3.3 shocks, metal cloak steering, chromo rear shafts, rcv front axles, 4.88 gears, 35" cooper sst pro, front and rear driveshafts w/ 1350 u joints. Inner fender liners, front and rear bumpers and tons of stuff inside. It's been fun but another level from the XJ and MJ life I've been living. But it meets the comfort needs of the little ones and most importantly the bosses (wife) lol Thanks. Comanche funded some of it. Sad to sell it but hurt even more to finish it and have it sit. It went to a good home and I'm sure it will pop up somewhere on here. The bumper I used a JCR DIY bumper. Then bought the hindges and tire carrier parts from ruff stuff. They have amazing fab parts and top notch quality. I sourced some square tubing 1/4" wall from a local place to build the rest. Not my first bumper but they are time consuming to get right. That's why the new jeep has off the shelf bumpers. Wife said if I build another bumper bad things will happen lol. I have more pics I can post of the bumper. It was to crazy just lots of measuring because the clearance between the tail gate and where the swing outs mount is tight. -

I finished it and it sat for 6 months and I never drove it. Had another kid and bought a new rubicon. Just sat so I had to sell. I can't post pictures for some reason but the thing turned out great. Sorry for the disappointing ending. Good news is my new jeep is siiiiiick lol -

You can't beat it. It comes powder coated with like a bedliner texture. For the price there is nothing else close. The metal might be a little thin but I figured after every big recovery I'll check everything. Comes with all the hardware and d rings. I just upgraded all the hardware to grade 8. Thanks the rear was a lot of work hahaha -

Currently install iro long arm and otk steering. Doing ball joints, wheel bearings, new brakes including calipers, quick disco, flipping rear axle and putting in a dana 44 I picked up. Since the axle was close to being out anyways I just removed it and did the rear main seal. Way better with the axle out lol. -

I didn't take a ton of pics on everything but you get where this is going. I made a gas can holder and a basket for a cooler. I haven't finished the basket yet. On the short arm you can see I welded some square tubing on the arm so I can make whatever attachment I want in the future. -

With a ton of measurements it knew it was going to be a tight tight fit to get that swing out hindge to fit between the tailight and the tailgate. Once the hinges were in a good location and mounted the bumper one last time. Checked everything again. Once I pulled it off I braced the whole inside of the bumper at the hinge to make sure it was supported good. Once the hinge was burned in I started making the swing outside. The right longer arm is for the tire and left for whatever as you will see later. -

I've always wanted a dual swing out. Since nobody makes anything for the mj platform my solution was to do it myself. Since this is going to be a DD adventure rig I need to keep the bed space free. I like the overland rigs with dual arms because you have tons of flexibility. Also with the one swing out the are needed to open it is huge. The dual arm seemed like the way to go. I started with a jcr DIY bumper and ordered a bunch of stuff from ruff stuff. As you can see the hinge for the tire carrier is beefy. -

Found this roof rack off a guy on here. Used it on his xj and got it with brackets for a great deal. I have the same rack on my xj and like it. The front looks good slanted. Also found the color I'm going to paint it after I do a bunch of body work. Probably awhile off but we will see. I'm going to do the one on the left. -

Here is the oh that's why there wasn't a bumper shot lol Bought some frame stiffeners that had the bumper tabs built in. I cut the backs off as I was being lazy and didn't want to take the spring and shock out Found a company that makes what looks like a knock off jcr bumper. We will see how it holds up. -

Bringing her home. No front bumper from a minor incident. Later when I went to mount a bumper I found it to be a little more lol -
I picked this MJ up just before Thanksgiving last year. It's an 87 4cyl 2wd manual short bed that the PO swapped a 93 XJ 4.0 into and converted to 4wd. I'm in CA and it has a CARB cert which means it passes as a 93 xj. Got it for a great deal considering what goes into getting it to be carb legal. I used it has a run around vehicle. Now I'm working on it a ton to get it to be my DD. My goal is to build it as an camping rig for me and my daughter. I have a 96 XJ that's got everything done to it but a cage. So I'm familiar with the world. I've loved MJ's and always wanted one. I have a years worth of odds and ends so I'll post them as I get time. Thanks and feel free to comment...

I'm in corona just east of you. 10 min no traffic.....5 days with traffic

Spring over in the rear and IRO front long arm. Buy front springs after to see how .ucb lift you get in the rear. That's my plan for mine. I have all of IRO's stuff on my XJ and love the flex. Customer service is top notch also. They get all my business. Oh and when my xj flexes people's jaw hit the ground

IAC is easy to take out and clean. Should make it a lot better if that's the proble. Then just buy a new one. I habe a 96 xj (OBD2) and it would do this once it got hot. Was the crank sensor and the transmission bell housing. If you have one pour coldish water on it and try to fire it up when it's messing up.
