Can Spell Comanche

Can Spell Comanche (2/11)

  1. i got the kit but the internal slave fittings are different. won't hook up out the box. the mechanic that ordered it for me is retrofitting something on there now to make it work. tired of this thing just sitting in the yard.
  2. so waitin on good weather and my new clutch kit to come in to finish this tranny swap. needed a new internal slave for the trans and the thing is close to $160 from the auto parts store by itself which is just stupid. i got a sachs clutch kit, with the pressure plate, pinion gear, slave, and alignment tool for $186. gonna try to keep my master cylinder but I'm having a hard time getting the slave lines to come off. any tips on getting the quick disconnect thing to work right? its stuck.
  3. we need to go ahead and get that hot wheels banner on this truck somehow
  4. damn. wish i had black interior
  5. where did those spiffy tails come from?

Sincerely, Lisa Customer Service Representative Chrysler Customer Assistance Center and got the new trans cleaned up a little
  7. thats one kick @$$ MJ for a thousand bucks
  8. i got the tranny out finally oil pan off, painted, and a new gasket on there replaced the rear main seal, got the new back in and sealed up, used this site as a guide http://www.jeepin.com/features/rearmain/ and my selection of nicely cleaned fasteners
  9. so i didnt know the pwr steering mounts were different until i pulled mine off. really annoying, but i made it work. instead of trying to hunt down one the same as mine i just cut the 89' mount down to mirror the 92' one. used an angle grinder and just chopped it. don't know if it will damage the integrity of the mount over time or not, but theres no difference now between the two, other than the chopped part. and with the beat up fender off i started pulling the transmission yesterday with a buddy. have it all out, but the oil pan and the clutch. need to replace my main seal as well as it leaks like crazy.
  10. OA welding is a little rough on thick metal, especialy if your welding thick to thin. Before you do anything i would take a couple pieces the same size and material of what i was going to weld and practice. then whe you actually go to weld everything keep plenty of vice grips around and a good welding hammer. it also really helps to get a good grinder with a cut off blade on it. if you mess up a weld just smoothe it out and go over it. also make sure you throw heat more toward the thicker metal if necesarry. oh! and of course good glasses are a must, and don't go too dark with the glasses. you need protection but you also need to see. number four or five is acceptable, not 9 or ten  yea definitely gonna practice. got the glasses and stuff. i figured if they welded battle ships together with gas during wwII then with the right stuff i can pull it off
  11. build date is 10/91 tried to replace the power steering pump last night. got a used one out of a 89 comanche. only found out the mounting bracket was different after getting mine off, total pain in the @$$, now i got to find another bracket somewhere.
  12. i pulled my front right fender today because its all chewed up. grill is broken too, and I'm not a big fan of the doors. anybody got any info on swapping out the front clip for a 97+ XJ set up? i can get one at the junkyard for kinda cheap.
  13. very cool. looks great man. the paint on the under side is killer. id like to do mine, but its just gonna be covered in crap in a day.
