So got my 91 big ton 2wd and was thinking of doing a complete 97+ swap with interior and front end and doors.then I remembered that I have a couple of LS 5.3, 5.7, and 6.0L lying around doing nothing and the 4.0L that’s in the MJ goes through oil like BP. Mainly wondering on how much of the 97 and up harness I would have to keep to make all the new interior parts function (radio, heat, electric windows and mirrors.) I was planning on using an aftermarket cluster to make it easier to with the GM motor

Well believe me or not, but Viper V10s cost $25k at the junkyard so I don't think anyone will be swapping it in an XJ anytime soon

X2 on LS swap, dollar for power ain't nothing better, aftermarket loves them, cheap at junkyards and same with 4L60 and 80s plus Novak makes motor mounts and wiring

Think I only did 5 or 6 no inline fuses but all the ends came with, just crimped them on at work

Inline fuses too? This is a set of 7 cables (all grounds, battery, and alternator cabling) with inline fuses, not just the two battery cables.

I spent half a day, went to the parts store and got 2ga cables made. All the powers and grounds for like $40 with ends

I live in northern WI and know all to well of rust. Went looking on CL and found a 91 MJ in CA and had it shipped to Minneapolis for $900 and drove it the last few hundred miles back home. But please, if you find a clean, rust free, never seen winter salt, kind of MJ, Don't drive it in winter!!!!! Get a $500 beater and drive that

Would a AW4 with a 242 off the back have the same output shaft length and spline count as a 231? Out of a 93 XJ

So my 91 Big Ton 2wd has the power/comfort switch for the trans and it works perfectly. What I'm wondering is does that switch control the TCM or the actual solenoids in the valvebody because I want to convert to 4WD. Also, electrical wise, how much is different between a 91 AW4 and let's say a 97 and up AW4? Thanks!
