Hello all I was hopeing someone might be able to shed some light on a problem I'm having locating the correct axle seals for the front axle of my 86 comanche. long story short ordered new seals from summit raceing they were wrong ordered a set from 4 wheel drive hardware from their exploded veiw of a dana 30 they were wrong aswell i keep geting seals that are the same part number for both sides and thats not possible at all as the diameter the seal rides on on the passenger side short outer shaft is 1.190" 0r 1 3/16" and the drivers side shaft is a much heaver 1.625 / 1 5/8" plus the seals i removed from the axle have much longer spacer type collars attached to them then the new ones ive been sent. any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated thank you

as many know the fuel tank is secured in place with the straps connected to the frame rails on one side and the bed on the other end of the fuel strap . i have removed my bed to do some body work ect and was wondering if anyone has devised a way to leave the tank hooked up to fuel line ect with the bed off pics would be great I'm doing an engine swap and would like to get the truck moving under its own power and painted before replacing the bed I'm thinking a simple piece of angel iron or something but was wondering what if anything others might of done?? thanks

Brake booster MC question
banjobill80 replied to banjobill80's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
are they the bubble flare on the master cylinder side and regular flare on the distribution block side? Metric bubble glare at both ends IIRC. You have to re-flare the end for the prop valve and use sAE fittings. ok thank you for the info -

hello I finally have my 4.0 mounted and firing in my 86 and after altering the cross member ready to climb the next mountain and thinking ahead a little to the brakes. i have read a number of threads talking about using a break booster and master cylinder from a Cherokee to improve the brake system on our beloved MJ's. first question wich year cherokee works best second would i still use the same mj proportion valve/routing block in the front and if i delete the HSV in the rear do i just plug the return line hole on that forward block? also read somewhere about upgraded wheel cylinders but couldn't find out what they were refering to when they said upgraded. thanks for any help and suggestions

ok it must be the cps i had a problem with the wireharness where the previous owner had cut some relays out of it so i found a comanche in a bone yard had the 4L with auto trans everything seemed to plug in except there was no plug for the cps and not knowing what the cps was for thought it would be a bridge i would cross later. guess i will have to reinstall the old harness and deal with the relay problem after all. so now i wonder what the harness was out of that i got at the bone yard everything has a spot but the cps

hi all hopeing for some ideas here . so I'm knee deep in my 4.0L swap into my 86 mj i got a runing 88 donar with the 4.0 have it bolted in to my 86 i used wire harness, dash, steering colume and all the fixings from the 88 so i thought it would be a pretty easy switch and so far all has went fairly well have the motor all bolted up have not begun vacume or coolant exc but thought i would like to hear her fire she cranks over and have power to the coil but no spark replaced cap button plugs and wirers still no spark. as i said she ran in the donar truck so ecm and all that should be fine. fuzable links and everything seem fine any thoughts would be appreciated

I found a harness but keep me informed as i am interested i still need other parts thanks for the reply

cruisers write up is excellent but will not help with my problem. my problem is at the other end of this harness where the previous owner decided to cut the wires of three relays and with 13 wires several wich are the same color and stripe pattern it will be near impossible for me to get it back together correctly so I'm hoping to find this short section of harness then i can proceed with the c101 elimination
-
thank you just let me know the details pm sent

Hello all and happy new year. I'm in need of a renix wiring harness the part i need is the c101 connector on the firewall side. it would seem that the PO decided to keep some relays and instead of just unplugging them he decided to just clip the wires and now I'm left with 13 cut and unidentified wires. hoping some one will have a spare to sell? willing to buy the complete engine bay harness if necessary really was a bummer thought i would get to fire my engine this weekend

Cool i really don't need the sliders just the bottom part mine roted away with the floor pan all four tabs on the drivers side and two tabs on the pasenegers compleatly gone.. if you just want to sell them compleat with the sliders that would work too thanks

2.8 to 4.0 fuel pump question
banjobill80 replied to banjobill80's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
onlyinajeep726 thanks for the info i will try and find a usable sending unit and new pump from an 89 first ill check my mj tank for the reserve pan..my 89 doner is actually an 89 comanche wich had suffered such frame rot that it snaped in half right behind the cab. it was pitiful to see but worked well for me as i got motor, trans harness just about everything i needed for the swap except fuel tank lol -
hello anyone have a pair of bench seat brackets they would sell reasonable ships to ohio thanks
-
hello all hope you had a merry Christmas..so I'm almost ready to set my 89 4.0 into my 86 mj i have modified the firewall and core support and have the motor mounts bolted in place and i started to think about the fuel situation with the 2.8 being carbarated mechanical pump and the 4.0 being electric in the tank i was wondering what some of you guys have done i was thinking of useing and external pump but not sure what psi i would need and thought someone could share what they have done and save me some headachs thanks a million

Floor Pan Recommendations For 86Mj
banjobill80 replied to banjobill80's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
In deed I have comanche fanatic They suck! I have fixed the pans in a 77 ford 150 79 dodge power wagon 81 mercury cougar and various othrr smaller fooor.patchs and never bought pans just fabed them myself thought I would be able to do a nicer job with preformed pans.stuck useing them because I lost the receipt. -
I mostly use a full face "large veiw" jackson average about 6hrs per day in it but I do have a speedglas only really use it for hand plasma turn the shade down to 8 and don't get the welders glow. Its a good helmet but would never invest 300+ in a hood get a 40 dolar jackson with an 11 shade gold lens and spend the balance on jeep parts... ;-)
