  1. I havent been on here for a while but my comanche died a few weeks ago and it has no spark or fuel exiting the throttle body injector, it has good pressure to the injector though. Its a 86 2.5 tbi, I got an original jeep manual and I checked the coil ( it was good) and the power to the ecu and ignition control unit both good with good grounds. I'm leaning towards the ecu being out since the injector is not working also. There is test equipment for the ecu and the ignition control unit but I havent been able to locate them on ebay or any other place. Anyone ever have this problem also?
  2. I had already bought a new one and havent installed it yet to compare mpg. When I first got the truck i soaked the injector in seafoam for a few days.
  3. ok, I filled her back up and did the math with mixed driving highway and town 1.34 mpg increase. this is only my first fill up it can be more or less, cause here in Oregon you're not allowed to pump your own gas unless you have a motorcycle, so fill up can very. I will post a average down the road.
  4. If you have mushy brake pedal its in your hydraulic system Period! If your brake booster is not functioning, then its hard to apply the brake (if the hydraulic system is functioning properly). get a friend to help bleed the brakes. If you are sure theres no air in the system and you still have mushy pedal, and theres no leaks, then your mastercylinder is shot. don't bother rebuilding it your self, even with a new valve in there you can still get a bad seal with damage to the cylinder its self.
  5. heat vent??
  6. Ive only ran threw 1/4 of a tank so far, with mixed driving in town and highway and it really about the same. (I will get some numbers soon) One thing I have noticed, that my throttle body now sweats. Its really cold on the outside of it, kinda like a soda on a hot day. wtf? I believe it is creating a bit of a pressure change with the turbulence kinda when you drain a O2 bottle it gets cold on the outside. Or its always done this and i just noticed haha. The only problem ive ran into is that my throttle body is now too tall for the cold air intake I was trying to build for it, I will figure something out though.
  7. Does anyone know if the heater valves are exchangeable between 87-92 mj and the 84-90 xj? I have the same valve as the xj on my 86 but it cost $100. as the ones for the later mjs cost $25. I'm sure I can change it, but just wanted to ask if anyone else ran into this before.
  8. California has some great landscapes other than that California sucks I lived there most of my life, you can't wipe your @$$ in california with out breaking the law. R.I.P. CA! Oregon is a ok place its fairly cheap here. I lived in Arizona for a while, fun desert terrain, the hotter it gets the more the girls take off and you don't have to worry about rust........but the people all have cooked brains from the heat and are nuts so i will never go back. Idaho is fun place, Id like Canada too. I vote a place with lots of snow, mudd, hills, and Ladies that look great and can cook that don't b*@$£. A place where I can do what I want, with the respect of others in mind. A place where no one has a stick up there @$$, where everyone worries about there own doings, not what every one else is doing. And finally a place where you can go down to the store and buy anything you want for the Comanche, that also stocks beer and ammo!
  9. Thanks guys Its good to be able to do some preplanning before starting a project. I'm glad i can swap the bell housings if I have to.
  10. I'm hunting for a replacement ax5 and I can only find internal slave cylinder types on the bell housing, while my original is a external. I'm pretty sure i can just swap the bell housing right???? I wanted to know what my fellow comanche owners thought about a internal vs external slave cylinder. My father thinks that the external is the way to go but I think thats because his internal took a crap a few years ago. haha any way the external is harder to bleed but easy to get to if i need to ever replace. what do you think?? :hmm:
  11. at your heater control valve in the engine compartment theres the vacuum line feeding to it check at the valve. Turn heater to on and then go pull the vacuum line at the control valve and put your finger on it there should be vacuum. I'm not 100% sure that there is vacuum applied when heater is switched to on it maybe applied to when switched to off. Either way you should be getting vacuum on one of those settings. If not trace back to inside the compartment and start checking vacuum lines and believe theres a diaphragm near the control box if I remember right. If your controls are working right then your cooling system may have air in it or your heater core could be blocked??
  12. by locking the cad system is there any negatives? Like fuel economy, wear on the tires or axle parts :hmm:
  13. Alrighty sounds like I'm going to be gettin busy before long! And I will check out the CAD system thanks!
  14. well i wanted to replace the 207 anyway, i found a ax5 and 231 for $275. I think I will buy them and swap em and rebuild my tranny later for a spare. I noticed that some transfer cases like my 207 have the vacuum 4wd switch and some have the electric switch on transfer case, will I have to get a 231 with the vacuum switch or can i install my old switch in the 231??
  15. theres a lot of play in the transfer case and transmission it seems and i hear the noise in both the transfer case and near the bell housing. Is this a common problem with these?
  16. Ok just found a new noise yay! When Ive been putting heavy load on the engine and going up hill and sometimes around a turn Ive been hearing clunking. so I lifted my the rear of the truck and put it in gear and rotated the drive shaft and the clunking noise is in the transmission not in the u-joints or rear axle.I have the ax5 with 207 transfer case (which sucks i know) Does this sound like a premature failure about to happen? Whats my best option for a donor trany with 5 speed and 231 transfer?
  17. the proper manual should send you in the right direction
  18. sweet! thanks
  19. ha ha next time i should do a search for one of my questions  but then I'm not sure what some of the comanche addicts would do..
  20. I don't know exactly what year I just emailed the parts guy. Its a early type he said 84-90 cherokees. Is there different speedo ratios? My plan was to swap my Mph gauge with my original miles into the other cluster then i should be fine right??
  21. Well now reading back i did'nt explain myself to clearly lol. Take Two......I have a 86 2.5 MT and I'm going to get a whole different cluster with the tachometer on it. Mine current cluster doesnt have a tach and it has a giant fuel gauge on it. So the tach wiring is already in the wire harness of my truck even though it never came with tach or will I have to run wiring for it? And will all the wiring for the other cluster be the same all will have to do is relocate the fuel gauge wires correct?
  22. read below for better description, sorry
  23. thanks guys I knew someone here would know!
  24. I know jeep and dodge has some common parts, the tail lights from the dakota look alike does anyone know if they swap??
