  1. well if I'm buying a carrier might as well be a full case locker right? I would much rather spend money on an XJ 44 though. I may wait to regear till I can get ahold of one.
  2. I noticed its an added option on the hell creek...probably my smartest choice right now, but I really want those 33x10.50 km2's on there...maybe w/ some AEV wheels.
  3. Oh opps...foot in mouth. I should have thought about that. man that sucks. will I have to change the front carrier too? are the bearings the same size on the rear or will they need to be changed too to accept the 29spl shafts? what about brakes in the rear different drums and all on the 29ers?
  4. Oh I def plan on SPOA in the rear if I go 4.5". I just mean the front for the RE. If I go 3" I'll stay spring under... are the shafts in that 96 8.25 actually smaller than a 35??? oh and the XJ axles are 3.55
  5. bang for the buck what lift would you go with? right now I am strongly leaning towards the hell creek all spring 3" or a short arm RE double flex 4.5"
  6. yeah I def will 2mw when I get some real pics...haha
  7. HAHAHA man those are some horrible pics... oh well. I'll get some that might do it justice 2mw
  8. I am actually letting a buddy of mine who runs a 4x4 shop go ahead and swap everything over in a couple weeks. yeah I hate I missed the 29 spline deal. here 's a couple teasers till 2mw when its light:
  9. Picked up my new MJ today!!!! This thing is some hotrod! haha. I would NOT be scared of a stock mustang... Pics tomorrow. I will start a new thread for it then..thanks again for all the great info guys. Ended up getting a complete 96 XJ w/ AX-15/231 non-disco dana 30 and 8.25 rear, 160k on the clock for $250 minus the engine. I think if I just swapped to a 3.73 rear this thing would be scary quick.
  10. Are the WB the same between a XJ and SB MJ? In other words, if i swap in an XJ ax15 and 231 would the XJ drive shafts work w/o having to retube them? I found a whole 96 XJ w/ ax15 and 168k on the clock for $550...
  11. Man, car-part.com is the ticket! found one w/ 26K on the clock for 350...will call them 2mw. also found a 231 w/ SYE for 300.
  12. like 4 miles up the street! I went up there today actually, but it was all junk. Few aw4's laying out on the ground w/ water in them and some seriously scavenged axles. I may check out carpart.com though, thanks!
  13. North carolina...I guess part of it is me not being very connected in the local jeep circle...and well junk yards, ha
  14. OK cool...yeah I do but of coarse its 2wd.
  15. If i end up w/ a YJ/TJ trans, could I change the shifter out for my MJ one?
  16. I was told I might need the TJ flywheel and clutch too...true or false?
  17. will an ax-15 from a 98 TJ work w/ no mods? other than whatever it takes to make the external slave work? found a rubi 241 case...will it bolt up to any ax-15? thanks again guys!
  18. will bumpers that fit XJ's fit the MJ?
  19. can't wait to be this thing...haha
  20. so the stock brake master will be fine w/ no mods to run disks in the rear? here is a decent deal on some axles: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=18117
  21. haha ok. Next question: if I do go rear disk which master cyl/prop valve will I need?
  22. By the way...I really appreciate this awesome crash coarse guys!
  23. There's a tag on the diff cover (and unlike the old Jeeps, that tag is usually there and not rusted away). If it has 2 tags, then it's likely a posi diff too. nice! Is there a year range I should look for? Are the perches the right width? really wouldnt hurt my feelings if they were set up spring over too. Can you use stock xj springs in a spring over situation and gain less lift than stock Mj's?
  24. yeah thats the ole' quick and dirty way...I didnt know if there was an ID tag or marking of some kind. Toys use a certian color paint on the pinion nut to identify the ratio. like pink=4:10 white=4:30
  25. cool...maybe someone has a good deal on an ax15 for me. that is worrying me... yeah I agree on the toy axle...its super strong though.
