  1. Some of you may have seen the corner guards I've built for my MJ project but it seems like there has been a lot of interest lately in rear corner guards/light boxes for the MJs with little response from the vendors. I thought it would be helpful to some if I shared the ones I built. While they don't look as "professional" as the JCR or Thor guards I'm happy with how they turned out and it was as valuable learning experience. Parts Needed: 10g sheet of plate steel(same thickness of the Thor guards) Box of button head bolts and lock nuts from Fastenal Some form of LEDs Tools Used: Electric grinder with thin cutoff wheels Drill with various size bits Welder for the tabs Torch to heat/bend steel around body 2.5" Hole saw to cut out light holes First step was to trim the lower quarters off the bed. This is an optional step. I plan to build a wrap around bumper later so I didn't care about the lower quarters.
  2. The gauges are slightly different between the two. The TJ fuel sender values are different than the XJ's. You need to make sure that if you use a TJ pump you use a TJ cluster and vice versa. You can also just replace the gauge sender on the side of pump to either TJ or XJ. It just clips on the pump module. Gotcha....thanks for the tip. I'm planning to use the XJ cluster with the XJ fuel pump/sender so I should be ok. Payment sent!
  3. Nope, I have my unmolested tank sitting in the garage. I beat my head against the wall trying to figure out a work around to cutting the tank up. I like the TJ gauge cluster better than the XJ one. I really wanted to use it in my truck. Mainly to be different than all the other 97+ trucks out there. I spent entirely too long on this fuel system. It will be worth it in the end though. I didn't realize the TJ guage cluster was different than the XJ cluster? The TJ pump/sender unit is the same on the TJ as the XJ, right? Send me a PM with your paypal address and I'll send you over payment for the copperhead rings. I'll give them a try for $50.00.
  4. Did you try to cut up the MJ tank to make the copperhead rings work? That tank mount system you've made looks really good, looking forward to the pics!
  5.    Congrats!!! I guess the TJ tank set up worked well? Any ideas on how you are going to mount it? I've been brainstorming all weekend on my set up. Just food for thought but I'm thinking about buying this: http://www.atozfabrication.com/store/pr ... 288&page=1 And using it on the MJ tank. My idea is to block off the current fuel pump hole on the MJ tank and cut a new hole on the top of the tank where the ring is pictured below. Based off my measurements the XJ pump set up will sit about ~1-2" off the bottom of the MJ tank when dropped in from the top. Image Not Found
  6. I'm looking forward to seeing your results with the TJ tank and Fuel pump set up. I haven't gotten to this step yet on my build yet, but I fear that it will be one of the biggest hurdles. PLEASE take plenty of pictures.
  7. That bumper and your whole truck look great! I've been following your build on JF. Nice job!!!
  8. quite often with new rivets you will have inspection/registration problems, becase they can tell the tag has been changed. DOL doesnt like it when you mess with VIN tags.... :shake: oh well...I guess we will see what happens, thanks.
  9. Congrats! I can't wait to get to that point on my truck. Yours has really come a long way. What's the deal with the VIN numbers? I just drilled out the rivets on the VIN on the XJ dash and put the VIN from the MJ in it's place with some new rivets? Did I miss something?
  10. Nice trucks! What's the specs on the 4.6L?
  11. That looks good! Where did you get the "Comanche" letters on the doors?
  12. That looks good! Thanks for the pic. I assume you had a glass shop install it? Did you take out the old glass yourself? If so did you destroy the gasket taking it out?
  13. PM Sent :D FYI - I called a couple of places today and found one place that had them in stock.
  14. Oh ok...got it. Thanks for the clairification. So it sounds like I do NOT need to buy the new gasket from Chrysler/Jeep, that would be a good savings of $60.
  15. urethane? sorry not quite sure what you are referring to?
  16. I plan to order a replacement CRL rear window slider for my MJ project. I'm having a hard time finding the 3 panel one so I may have to just get the 4 panel version. My question is do I need to order a new gasket from Chrysler to have put in with the new window or does a new one come with the CRL window? I assume the CRL window is glued to the body like the front glass and the gasket/trim glued to the window for asthetics?
