  1. Took the snorkel off of the 92 yesterday, and put the cone filter onto the stock air tube. I started it, idled fine, ran fine. Came out a little later to start it to see if the rough starting was gone. Started fine, ran fine. Shut it off, went inside for a few minutes, came out and started it and it shot up to at least 3000 rpms instantly. It seems like the motor is getting too much air now, i'm not sure though. I'm gonna try disconnecting the battery and maybe it will reset the computer. :dunno: Any help will be really appreciated.
  2. Nah, just the one, wish i had 2 but i guess thats asking a little much. :D
  3. Well stage 1 removal of the PVC snorkel is complete  . Ended up cutting it off at the fender and and pulling the whole thing off. Then I took the cone filter and clamped it on the tube coming off the stock airtube. It's just a temporary fix to just have a filter on the intake. This weekend i'll put the new fender on it. Went to pull the seat, but got nervous about rust. The 2 seat mount studs on the DS rear seem to be gone . This weekend i'll pull the carpet an see what i find. Before After
  4. Well now that its home, I figured i would start the build thread. Just bought a 92 long bed 4.0, AW4, 4x4 column shift, with a 4.5" front lift, and a SOA rear. Welded 35 rear needs to go ASAP. Its rough around the edges, but the core is solid and one day it will be up to my standards. Build date is 4/23/92. Current plans are to take off the snorkel, swap out the seats for buckets, and fix the bad track bar.
  5. Current: 92 LWB 4.0 30/35 AW4, Built 4/23/92 Past: 88 SWB 4.0 30/35 5 Speed 87 SWB 4.0 35 5 Speed
  6. What you use to pull them, did you bend the actual arms for the pedals?
  7. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dee-Zee- ... 3a5669d4d6 I personally don't like side steps on any truck, but here's a set i figured i'd put up, think there the ones hornbrod was talking about
  8. Never mind, just found it
  9. i might have to just hack it off, anyone have that link to the build thread
  10. When i took my new 92 for a test drive i noticed the spacing between the tranny hump and the gas pedal, and the gap between the gas pedal and brake pedal are almost non existent. :huh???: This makes pushing the gas pedal in very difficult, or once you have it down, you can't release because your foot gets wedged on the brake pedal. I haven't looked at it close yet sice i don't have it home yet, but this is something i'm going to need to fix right away. Any help is appreciated
  11. well that pretty much verifies it, its close, but Wades still got me by 1 day..... , an i'll take care of it for sure
  12. ya gotta flip the grill over, its upside down
  13. hey now, my fire trucks are bright green, i don't ride red  . An that sticker was on when i got it, i guess the kid was a member here, we were talking back an forth about the club
  14. here's a few more pics, rear bumper really just needs its endcaps put back on, needs a front track bar bushing bad, i think i might paint it white once the weather warms up, not a fan of bright red
  15. O, one of the things i need to figure out too is for some reason the gaps between the gas and brake pedal, and the gas pedal and tranny hump is ridiculously small, i could barely get my boot on to the gas pedal, without getting it wedged on the brake, i don't know what to do with this :huh???: . Any help is greatly appreciated
  16. yea, i really wanna get more info about it, its gonna need some work, but it sounds worth it to me
  17. Well i bought it, gotta get it registered and go back and get it. No rust on the body, no rust on the frame. Build date of 4/92, yes that means the last month of production. Has a couple loose ends, but not all that bad, a little rough around the edges. Can't wait to get it home and start wrenchin on it
  18. Yea unfortunately i sold the 87, i would have kept it but i don't have time or money to do a project right now, hopefully i can get this an have something i can drive, then buy one to build up
  19. the build date is the first thing i'm looking for. I know about all the rust spots, had the 88 an i knew where all the normal rust started and even more than that more ;)
  20. guy wanted 2500, i got him down to 2000, might get it a little lower depending on what i find tomorrow
  21. how long till it opens up?
  22. I'm heading down to Pine Hill in South Jersey tomorrow to take a look at a 92 LWB, 4.0 4x4 AW4. Its got a SOA rear, an the rest is a 4.5". Its only got a 35 in it but that will change soon. The floors were just redone so there good. I know most of the stuff to look for an make sure is good, but figured i would ask the pro's if there is anything in particular i should watch for before buying it. thanks  O an that snorkel will come off as soon as i get it home. :ack:
  23. my plan was to run the 35 till it essentially blows up, then have the 8.25 there to swap in. I was plannin on putting stronger after market shafts in it, and a locker eventually. Just looking to have an axle to swap in cause i know its a matter of time before the 35 gives up the ghost
  24. yea my XJ has the 8.25 an its pretty tough, an since i can get it pretty cheap an its probly 10 minutes from me, seems pretty worth it.
