Found a suggested price at NADA, headed to classifieds, thanks folks.
-
Thanks Pete, excellent advice. Still doesn't answer my original question, correct forum or not. That's ok, my truck will get sold. Thank you all that tried to help.

My apologies Pete. I did start this thread in classifieds. It was moved here. I was looking for advice on a decent price to ask for my truck, as there is no "what's it worth" forum. I had planned on offering it for sale here, once I knew where to start the asking price. I suppose that's not going to happen. I'm going to guess on a price and offer it for sale via local media. If it doesn't sell, since it still runs just fine, I will drive it to the scrapyard and take whatever they will give me. That will be a damned shame. My thanks to all that have offered advice. Curt

sorry, I knew I would forget something. It's a 2 wheel drive. I can email pics. I'm near Gridley, KS.

Some info on the truck would help with an assessment... '86 Comanche Pioneer 4 cyl, 4 speed manual. 216k on the clock, and I am the original owner heat and A/C works beige with tan interior, bench seat sliding rear window, gun rack too :) Pioneer stereo 7 foot bed with two 7 foot side boxes always garaged, never been wrecked That's all I can think of at the moment. Any questions? I'm gonna need a photobucket account or I can email pics. edit: located in SE KS

Thanks folks. I guess I need to do more research, then make a decision on a price and post in the for sale forum. Thanks for the replies and the forum move, Alexia.

Is it permissible on these forums to ask what it might be worth? I understand that I will need to post a lot more info, but before I do I don't want to get into trouble with forum rules. I see that I am supposed to post a price, and I have no idea what my truck is worth. What say you, forum mods? :)

Ok, thanks for the quick replies.

What is its' purpose? Can the hose going to it be plugged with no ill effects? tyia

mysterious rubbing i cant find
Curt replied to MJ86YJ90's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Check the tranny mount/exhaust hanger. Mine was rubbing there in a spot I couldn't easily see. I fixed it with shims under the tranny mount bolts. -
It's a temperature sensor that controls the warm air inlet in the air cleaner box. When it's cold it pulls warm air off the exhaust manifold.

Idle Control Motor for 87 2.5
Curt replied to streetjeep2.5's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Nope. The computer will compensate by pulling the ISA in farther. Even if you unplug the ISA, the computer will compensate, I assume by changing the timing. Before you change anything, be absolutely certain you don't have a vacuum leak. Get a full can of carb spray and with the engine idling, spray everything vacuum related, and listen for an rpm change. Pay special attention to the rubber block that connects the TB to the vacuum manifold. That is where my problem was. The ISA has some special installation and adjustment procedures. I can't remember where I got it, but if anyone wants it I will be glad to email the .pdf to you. Also, if you disassemble the ISA, when you pull the cover off pay attention to the plastic hex nut that is threaded onto the plunger. This affects the overall length and the closed throttle switch. Lose this length and you are well and truly screwed. Don't ask me how I know. -
Would you post the link to the special bleeding procedure for the MJ please sir?

Rubbing salt all over the body will eventually help with weight removal. (the MJ body, not your sisters' body) :wavey:

Check for a vacuum leak. Get a can of carb spray and with the engine idling, spray around the TB and the vacuum lines. Any change in idle speed will indicate a leak.

Thanks, I'll look into that. Another question: Are the MAT and CTS the same? I noticed the wire connector ends are reversed. I was thinking of trying the new MAT sensor in place of the CTS. I can change the connector end if the sensors are the same. EDIT: never mind, they are different. :(
-
I don't think the 2.5 has an IAC. The TB has been cleaned and recleaned. I'm not sure how to test the O2 sensor, other than it runs the same with it disconnected. The O2 sensor has 3 wires, while the ones I see online are only 1 wire.
-
How much longer should I wait? ;) I replaced the MAT sensor. It didn't help. :( Going in a different direction, the AC in my truck is an after market job. There is no AC relay, so the ECU doesn't get a signal to step up the idle speed. I can add a relay to feed it this signal, but looking at the electrical schematic, I am unsure what the signal voltage is. If I send 12v and it's supposed to be less, I suspect I will fry the ECU. So, does anyone know for sure what the voltage would be? Or is this another one of my many bad ideas?

This is what I used for TPS and ISA adjustment: http://jeepgarage.free.fr/OWN/2.5l%20cec%20system.pdf

Just poking a little fun is all. :) I've already went through the vacuum lines. I did have a leak, but it's fixed now. Spraying all lines with carb cleaner doesn't do anything now.
-
You guys don't like 2.5s, do you? :( I got the TPS to output 4.65v by bending the tab on it to give it a bit more travel. It starts better now, but still stumbles when warm. It will stumble for about 5 seconds when I stop, then the ISA extends enough to bring the idle up to somewhat normal. Any suggestions on how to proceed?
-
I'm still fighting a too slow idle speed. I replaced the ISA and it does work, but it used to start at a high idle then throttle down, now I have to give it a little throttle to start. It will the idle ok til the engine get to operating temp, then it stumbles and sometimes dies when I stop at a light. I tested the TPS voltage output at WOT, and it was 4.5v. The manual says 4.6 to 4.7v. I couldn't adjust it any higher. Should I replace the TPS, or is 4.5v close enough? :dunno:

86 2.5 runs like crap til warm. HELP PLEASE!!!!!!
Curt replied to smelser125's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
This is exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks for posting the link. -
Bueller?..... Bueller?? :(

Ok, is there a way to test the O2 sensor? Will the engine run if the O2 sensor is unplugged?
