so i finally got done putting the 4.5" lift on after 2 months of trying(kidney stone, then kidney stone removal surgery, then weather) and my rear shocks are to short! i have zero droop and no rebound travel when i hit a bump. i haven't called rustys to see if they will send me the right length but i have a feeling it will be hard since i bought the lift in feb. whats everyone shock length wise on their 4-5" lifts(eye to eye extended)? I'm still running the spring under setup and have yet to move the shock mounts from the factory location.

Finally got the lift(rusty's 4.5" full leaf pack) on my 'manche. Noticed my rear break line doesnt have much slack now. Still rocking the stock weight sensing valve minus the linkage. I do have a shoe lace tieing the arm up thou :) Ive seen a few things about swapping out the prop valve for a xj unit. I picked up a 2000'ish xj valve for free and was thinking about doing that. But..... I'm confused on how to ditch the weight sensing valve after i swap the xj valve in. I also thought about building a drop bracket for the weight sensing valve (might get rid of the shoe lace then mod too :)) Or should i buy a longer line and call it a day. I do plan on swapping out the d35 for a disc converted 8.25 down the road.(year or so)

Question About Acceleration When Flexing
stoney88mj replied to 88whitemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
agreed. I've tried climbing little things with my rubi lj and bogged the motor down badly. grab 4lo and boom I'm up on top with minimal throttle input. I bogged the hell out of the mj trying to play on a snow bank. backed off grabbed 4lo and up she went. -

does anyone have any tips for putting a rustys 4.5"(full leaf) lift on a 'manche? I attempted to do it this past weekend and failed big time...... ive done lj, tj, jk, xj lifts and have had zero issues. I ran into nothing but issues on the 'manche. -first issue was the leafs not lining up.(with the shackle pointed forward the eyelet is still 1" off) - second issue was the inability to get the front spring in. even with a compressor and everything but the steering and upper arms unbolted it wouldn't go. anyone have any super helpful tips for installing rustys leafs and coils? everything else is straight forward and "should" be easy.

Fuel Injector Retaining Clip?
stoney88mj replied to stoney88mj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i don't mind junkyard diving for it but i'll be getting snow again next weekend so I'm not sure they will be open. stupid pissed off at myself at the moment. the local parts store(napa and the best chance at finding one around me) couldn't find a part# for any 4.o clip. -
anyone know where i can find a fuel injector retaining clip? i'm an idiot and lost one of mine in the process of swapping 5.o injectors in. i'm finding conflicting info about a bmw/vw clip working.

stoney88mj replied to stoney88mj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I played with the tilt mech and looked at the play and I'm 95% sure it isnt the tilt mech. :) I'm gonna tear into it on saturday and will report back -
Wobble In The Steering Column
stoney88mj replied to stoney88mj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Its a tilt column, but the play is "after" tilt adjustment(closer to the firewall) -
4-4.5" Bastard Pack Info
stoney88mj replied to stoney88mj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
They are the factory(or atleast factory age looking springs) I'm gonna toss on some aftermarket control arms but really don't want to use drop brackets. I ran a 4.5" lift on my old xj and it rode fine without drop brackets but i did have adj. upper and lower lca's on it. -
Been wheeling and playing with jeep for a long time and finally got my hands on a child hood dream. Picked up a 88 pioneer 4.0 4wd short box auto mj in PA. Drove her home 2.5 hours to ffx with a big smile on my face :) She isnt the cleanest rig but she is in decent enough shape to be a wheeling rig and weekend warrior. Frame is in great shape, cab and bed could use some work. The plan is to redo the interior and get her up in the air while adding armor and beef along the way. Going to keep her street legal and small for now.

Trying to build a low budget wheeling rig and I'm looking for bastard pack info. I tried using the search function to find threads and couldnt find anything. Is there and easy to build 4-4.5" bastard pack Or should i just do a spring over and figure out how to drop the ride height and inch. Really don't want to go over 4.5-5" of lift since i don't want to deal with control arm angles up front.

Picked up and 88 and the interior needs help. One of the issues is a wobbly steering column. There is alot of vertical play and its not tilt adjustment. Easy fix or look for a new one? Havent had a chance to get under the dash yet

the buckets have given up the ghost in my rig. looking to swap a bench in. anyone got in VA, MD, southern PA? i'll give away my bucket brackets to whoever hooks me up with a bench seat(after i swap em out of course). a few rips are cool, but nothing ratted out. gonna get it re upholstered anyways
