  2. I agree with Willy if you want a selectable locker go with an ARB. They work when you need them to work and are hassle free the rest of the time. I run two ARB's in my YJ and just paid the money for two new ones to go into the Comanche that I am building. If someone will pay that kind of money twice there must be something to them. I was thinking of going with the E-Locker until I read the warranty which says, if you run larger than stock tires it voids the warranty. I don't know what the warranty on the ECTED is but I would read it closely. Ron
  3. The axle looks good you should paint the cover a bright Neon Green. LOL

  5. I was back in the shop today working on the Comanche but even though I was out there all day it doesn't seem like I got much done. I disconnected the stock control arms from the front axle, drained the oil, took off the steering linkage and removed the stock springs. I then moved to the back of the truck to remove the stock spring shackles. This was tougher than I was expecting. Even though I soaked everything in PB Blaster the night before it was still hard getting the upper bolts off, thank God for heavy duty breaker bars. I did get the old ones off and installed the new longer shackles. I then decided it was time to drop the transfer case and install the Slip Yoke Eliminator. I've done this before on my YJ but I didn't remember it being this difficult to drop the transfer case. I jacked up the transmission and removed the cross member, so far so good. I then lowered it as much as I could and put a jack stand under it. I then started to unbolt the transfer case after taking off the wiring and linkages. This is when the problems started, I couldn't get to the top two nuts. I could get a hand on them but there was no room for any of my wrenches so I had to modified a wrench to work. Now that I had a wrench I could get on with the space I had to work with it was now to short to get any leverage to turn it. I took one of my woodworking clamps and put an end on the wrench and clamped to the transfer case. I tightened it until the clamp was about to break and I was going to give up when the nut let go. There went an hour of my life that I will never get back. Transfer case out, now the fun begins. After a couple of hours, of reading some not so good instructions, I managed to get it back together. Now I only need to worry that it will work until I get the truck back up and running. Tomorrow I hope to get the transfer case back in, I hope it goes better than it did coming out. I'll let you know how it went, Ron
  6. I would be twice as far along if you were here.
  7. Thanks, I try to get as much done as I can on my days off. I want to have it trail ready by July when we have our Washington State Trail Jamboree. Ron

  9. Looking good. I think that's a good idea on how to fix your shock issue, I would not have thought of a left handed nut. I can't wait to see how that ARB works for you on the trail. Ron
  10. Willy that looks sweet. I can't wait for mine to come in but I'm worried my welds won't look as goot as yours, nice job. Ron
  11. Great looking truck. I like how clean your install looks and I'm jealous of your shop tools. What vents did you put on your hood? Ron
  12. Willy, I ordered me a truss when I got home. Artec was having a sale 10% off and free shipping. I figured now would be the time to put it on so I, I mean we, wouldn't have to pull the axel later. Ron
  13. I have read about the axle tubes possibly spinning in the center section. I have an 8.8 in my Wrangler and I welded that one and I will do this one also but thanks for the heads up. I spent the day at Willy's house pulling the rear axle out of his Comanche. He bought a truss for his from Artec, I think that's right, and it looks great. Comes in bare metal but all cut and ready to weld together. I really liked it so Before my axle goes in there will be a truss on it. Ron Willy post a picture please?
  14. For some reason the picture of the new spring perches did not load so let me try again.

  16. I sent you a PM about the seat.
  17. I know 4:10 is one of the options but I think they also came with 3:55 and 3:73 but I'm not any kind of an expert. It dosent matter because I will be swaping out the front and rear to 4:88 anyway. I plan on running 35" tires and I want to lower the ratio so I'm not lacking for power. Ron
  18. Good to hear, how long did the install take? Got any pictures? Ron
  19. No shackles, so I guess its good I bought the others. Ron
  20. Oh by the way, I called Tuffy to ask about the color of the console and they informed me that the wrong console was put in the box. I am shipping mine back and one of the correct color is going to be sent to me. The only issue is they are in the fabrication phase and my new one won't be ready until the end of January. No problem, I think I have plenty to keep me busy for a while. Ron
  21. It was an early Christmas at Ron's house today, my long arm kit came in from TNT Customs. This is the 5.5 inch kit that will allow me to run 35 inch tires with a little trimming on the fenders. The kit is designed to tuck up nice and tight under the frame and not hang down 2 to 3 inches which kind of defeats the purpose of a lift. If the time permits I will start to strip things down soon and then Willy is going to come help me with the install next month when I have weekends off again. Ron
  22. I haven't bothered to check the gears yet. I think I broke four studs and bent a couple of more.

  24. Set89, I agree we will all have to get together and go for a run, 4 Comanche's would be cool. I just ordered my TNT long arm lift, bought a Ford 8.8 to swap in and I am waiting for several other parts to begin the build. When I am back in running order we can plan a run together. Ron
  25. I'm liking the look of that truss, lets get the axel pulled and the parts installed. I want to see if you can crack that one, bet you can. Ron
