  2. does anyone have wirings specs for 89 jeep comanche 4.0 5spd my running lights arent working and I'm trying to follow the wire (blue)<--for the running lights .I'm trying to loate exactly where it travels to so i can do a process of elimination, but I'm not able to find a correct schematic for this truck.my head lights work and blinker work and also brake lights work but my running lights do not, at fuse block the prkng fuse keeps blowing ,and battery keeps gettin drained ,so theres a short somewheres in the circuite. but locating where is most diffecult if someone might have a hand drawn schemaatic that shows color of wire and detailed location gosh what can i say i would be indebted to you for sure eighther way to all of you here i already am in debted to you all .thank you for all you do. jrwhite3230@yahoo.com
  3. I have no running lights and have found out there is a fuse that keeps blowing (shorts out) its the parking 10 amp fuse at fuse block would this be the circuit for the running lights? and what should I do at this point ? pull the fuse block out and locate the wire and follow it down the circuit? and problem number two my fuel gauge isn't working what voltage does it operate on at the sending unit ? I'm thinking that short at fuse block may be my problem to both !! any replys and or advice is much apreaciated thank you.
  4. i hate when that happens,I'm going through the same deal, ive had my Comanche for many years now use to be my brothers we built a business in this awesome truck he sold it to my nephew who started cutting al the wires for what i do not know anyways that's where I'm at trying to locate whats what, leaving no stone unturned but these comanches have so many wire's ending up no wheres for what reasons i do not know
  5. ive checked them all the way to fuse block so far no suspects! it's an all point's bulletin shorty and sparky on the run,i have checked the local hangout's but it's a no go the bulb's all are ok. is the bottom light the running light? (taillight) or does it come on with the brake light and just gets brighter when brake is depessed? thanks for reply
  6. no dash lights also gas gauge not working ,i have short at fuse block (parking ) 10 amp fuse but healights and blinker doe's work!
  7. my tail light's not working although my headlights and blinker works ,also short in the fuse block (park number# 10 amp fuse keeps shorting out blowing the fuses?. I also am trying to find out which rear light is what ? does the brake light the same bulb as the blinker ? and the tail lights work seperatly ,or does tail light share the headlight circuit?? also what color is the wire for the tail lights? i have gone through every inche of the harness and haven't found anything that would cause a short except that fuse at fuse block which I'm not sure is the correct circuit ill post photo's of what i have thanks for any reply
  8. problem resolved doubled up oil filter o ring from previouse filter was still on oil filter housing (overlooked and stuck itself to it) engine must have gotten rubber o rings hot and caused oil to leak through !! end of story , thank you for responding this was close call darn near blew my engine!!
  9. Doe's anyone know what might cause this other than oil pump? which I think is what it is or maybe oil filter .at the time the temperature was 210 degrese (f)or just below it,i popped the hood and noticed oil streaming out ,water didn't seem too hot <(water pump not circulating?? tell me what you think could cause this high pressure from pan area thank you
  10. my comanche blewout oil either from the oil pan or the oil filter 89jeep comanche

  13. I just fixed my fuel problem (new tank and new pump) but now engine is burning oil !? from where I don't know? the motor was rebuilt several years ago but hasn't been driven much after it got rebuilt then it sat several years three yrs, but never smoked but now that I fixed fuel problem its burning oil,i don't think its because it sat for a long time,i coated the cylinders with marvel mystery oil before I ran it .
  14. Is its possible to install an exterior high performance fuel pump for the inline 4.0 six cylinder engines, instead of internal ? does anyone know the fuel pressure rating is for the inline 6 cyl eng, also will the regulation be a problem if I connect the exterior pump up to the interior pumps harness? and take out the interior pump and runn hose through to the sock/filter leaving only the sending unit in tank. thanks for any replys p.s: if this would work does anyone have a clue to where I could locate and exterior pump
  15. needing 89 commanche 4.0 6cyl fuel pump and rack/sending unit which goes to the left into pan inside tank most I see are to the right .my sending unit is in good shape but has lost its galvanization and is rusted . (are there any coatings for this?) otherwise I need good used one .the pump is of the larger version pumps/not the smaller one for 90's commanche. I am also looking for new tires that fit the stock wheels for 1988 Cherokee Laredo 4X4 235/75r15
  16. I am having a tough time trying to locate a new fuel pump for my 89 jeep Comanche its 4.0 6cylinder I replaced the fuel tank (spectra) with the pan to the left and could not find a new rack (sending unit) which the sock goes to the left into the pan the pump is all I need but I can't find the correct pump not knowing the right part number and its pressure specifications does anyone know or can guide me in the right direction? also the pump is the larger version that has two rubber holding boots that fit it securely to the sending unit .thank you for any assistance
  17. I posted a while ago about this I have a 1989 jeep Comanche pioneer 4.0 6cyl which I replaced the fuel tank with a new spectra tank that has the pan inside it original to the oem its an 18 gal but the problem I'm having is the sending unit which is still in good shape strength wise but has rusted a good deal, I can't seem to find the exact sending unit anywhere that is identicle to the one I have (oem) most I find are too short and the sock goe's to the right of the pan I need one that go's left and into the pan. any suggestion's and isn't there anything out there that I can coat the sending unit that will hold up to fuel? can I have it replated/electroplating? or would a rust regenerater work like oslo? and also how about fabricating a new sending unit made of stainless steel? I'm realy ,pulling all my strings before I decide what to do I realy don't care to put this rusty old thing in this new tank. it would defeat my purpose thanks for dvice
  18. I am having trouble finding a sending unit (oem) for my 89 jeep Comanche 4.0 6cyl .I had purchased a new tank (18gal spectra ) and n I'm looking for replacement sending unit and pump that is exact fit as the original ,which is too corroded ,everytime I search I only get sending units from other years ,which will not work and goes in the wrong direction of inner pan within tank which is to the left also ,when I do a search for pump I get these smaller pumps in size that do not match up to the original but say's its the exact fit for my year truck ,<---is not the case . my original unit fits to the left and is much longer sending unit than what I am shown does anyone have the correct part numbers for all trucks made in 1989 or point me in the right direction thanks for your help : jrwhite p.s ill post a pic of my parts /soon
  19. hey there guys yeah I suppose your right ,and I agree with both, it was just a thought , and hey if I come up with some more thought's better than that ill pass it on to ya's halol i realy like this site its well put together and it's fine the way it is and it works!! thanks for your reply jrwhite3230
  20. hello admins and dev's I was looking in the advertised for sale/wanted section and I was wondering if you could make several links to local's sorta create Comanche clubs city's like I'm in tampa so it would be Comanche club of tampa like craigslist does this site is big enough to do that hence the members widley spread out also its world wide too I'm assuming, But strictly keeping it Comanche . I'm sure that this has already been discussed but I'm still new here and thought id just put it out there!! thank's jrwhite3230

  22. Hey guy's srry for not responding my pc been down for about a week since my last post and my Comanche is an 89 jeep pioneer 2w/dr 4.0 bored 50 over/(not much sleeve left) I replaced ecu,and so far still not getting power ill get back soon ,I'm going to go through the entire system the best way I know (process of elimimation),
  23. I found the problem and I suspected it all along but was just avoiding the thought band afraid to admit it (its the ecm/electronic control module ) took it out inspected the pins and there was one pin sorta discolored and corroded (due to excessive heat) pin number 4 bottom row of the right connector . I opened up the ecm and located circuite area has been cooking fried chicken, resister looks to be bad, my knowledge of why stop's there (just wore out from normal usage or is there something else causing this problem ? hey guy's I thank you from the help and I'm in debted to you I do still need a good diagram for this truck depending on the Haynes takes you no wheres . jrwhite3230
  24. I have checked all the relays and they are good but I'm not getting power to them ,also no spark to coil or power to coil at the coils primary connection, I'm realy needing a schematic that shows entire fuel system electrical including where it connect's to the ecu, which I suspect the problem reside's but without ,correct diagram its difficult to connect the dots
  25. I have no power to fuel pump ive checked the pump its good and have followed the harness as far as I could to fuse block from there I have no clue I have checked relay and coil no power there too ,I have no schematic for this vehicle is there anyone who might know of a site to download a (non Haynes) but manufacturers schematics of complete fuel systems electrical diagram? and any suggestion's welcome thanks for your help . jrwhite
