  1. Hey guys, been a member for a little while now but never owned a Comanche untill this year. Been obsessed with them for about 10 years now and I have gone through possibly every build thread on here except for the ones this year. So here it goes, a few months ago I purchased 3 Comanches from a friend that has had them for awhile. 1 was his crawler, the other 2 were projects on the side that he stored. I'll be getting more info about them shortly so please don't mind me. The years I'm not 100% sure about and I'll be taking more photos when I have the time. Now the latest purchase was a 1991 pioneer LWB, 4x4, 4.0l, 181000km, runs and drives and has a brand new 3" lift kit already installed. It came with a lot of parts, complete interiors, complete front and rear axles, manual trans, 4.0l from an early cherokee and lots more. I have been trying to buy it for a few years now but could not agree on a price untill recently. Some members might remember me posting photos asking what a rough value would be for it. It's rough... Well they all are but my plan is to use all the parts I have to restore one of them (probably the 91). I'll make a build thread when it comes time to start the project. For now, I just wanted to say hi! Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  2. http://atlanta.craigslist.org/sat/cto/4440271280.html Might be having to make a detour on our trip because of some tornado warnings and what not. So I figured a stop in Atlanta if it turns out to be half decent. Besides being a little dirty it looks like it is in decent shape
  3. The reason I prefer the h.o. is because of some of the problems I hear from guys with the renix systems. But that doesn't mean I won't buy a truck with a renix setup. Thank you guys with all the support and info, I knew I loved this site for a reason!!!
  4. I would do it in a heart beat but its a 14 hour drive for me. I put up a ad in the wanted section here so hopefully I can see what you guys have to offer. I wish that person was closer to me otherwise I would buy it

    Mj Wanted

Hey guys, I'm looking for a Mj any year with these requirements. I'm in Ontario in a border city, right where the great lakes come together. I am willing to travel but I don't feel like driving 7 hours...... Central Michigan is pretty much as far as I want to go. I hope I'm not asking for to much so far ;) 2.5 or 4.0 (preferably) 2wd or 4wd Auto or manual does not matter but please no pukeagoat Long box As little rust as possible please (I hate salty roads) :fs2: Some rust is ok but I do like rocker panels and cab corners so some of you guys can probably catch my drift....... Paint is not important to me I am a very hands on person but I really don't want other peoples major projects, some work is ok. But I would like to drive it home if possible . :MJ 1: . I do not have a very big budget due to college but I need a new vehicle/project for the summer. I am open to anything!
  6. I'll probably end up having to do what you said dainternetguy and place a wanted ad. After seeing that truck I wouldn't even bother with it to be honest...... parts sure but I do not want to touch the truck
  7. So I searched the states that we are going to pass through and have had no such luck finding one within my price range and in decent shape. I'll take anything at this point.......

  9. Believe me I wasn't going to after I seen it, don't worry. The only reason I asked how much he wants for it is because he said he was taking a huge loss so I figured he would want next to nothing for it.......... But as I can tell it was worth its weight in scrap. The only reason why I liked that truck is because its already setup (the lift is garbage I know, that's why I started a thread asking for good lifts and for a low price). I've already been searching down south for trucks and like what i see so far. My dream MJ would be a LWB 4x4 with a H.O 4.0L, dana 44 front and 9 inch rear with a decent amount of lift and meaty tires. Of course I'll be building it but I have been trying to find a truck worth my while lately with no such luck. Just like Hornbrod said, that is a average comanche around here. Other vehicles are way better shape but no such luck with these. Can't wait till saturday now!!!
  10. Atleast all you guys are honest about it. Like I said I was disappointed when I seen it for the first time. The oil filter scared me worse to be honest haha. I'm going down to Alabama on Saturday for a faimly trip so hopefully I will be able to find something down there with cash in hand. Honestly it sucks because all the parts that he has are hard to find but the truck is worth its weight in scrap
  11. Oh I know. He is starting to put all the parts together and adding them up...... he paid $1800 for it when he bought it. I wish it was in better shape or like you guys said $600. I was a disappointed when I seen the shape its in, if I would of known it was in this shape when he first brought it up then I would've said no. So far this is what he has for parts that I know; extra box, complete axles, standard transmission, fenders doors, hood, rustys 3" lift, jks lift shackles, bushwacker fender flares (new), 88 4.0l, 2 complete interiors, and more but that still doesn't make up for the amount of rust. He claims it to be a 91 with a 4.0l HO and obviously a LWB but still...... need your inputs guys. And what you guys would value it at.You won't hurt my feelings so don't worry. I got around 2 before I get back from my vacation and by then he will have a price for everything
  12. Sorry for some of the bad photos. It was pretty chilly out today Here's whats left of the rockers....... Motor is out of a 88 Comanche dana 30/35 spares with a good box
  13. Well went and seen it today. Its got a little bit more rust then I thought and the price is still undecided but won't be cheap, he wants around $2200 for just the truck alone and not including the MANY MANY parts. Photos to come, just waiting for Photobucket to finish up.
  14. Ya pretty much lol. I'm just excited because its going to be my first Comanche and that its what I've been looking for, for the past 3 years now
  15. Looks like you had a blast besides the laundry problems. My parents, me and my girlfriend are heading down to Alabama to go to the races coming up. We were also planning on trying to hike some trails near my uncle.
  16. Been waiting all winter to see my newest toy/project. It is in a friends garage in his backyard and the snow is almost gone. He said once the snow is gone that I can finally see it for the first time. But after a little bit of persuasion I can go check it out today. Can't wait!
  17. Looks like someone already did a nice front end conversion  seems like a decent truck besides the rust. http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/cto/4431100597.html
  18. Bump. Just like what NewfieMJ said, I know its old but I think this is a cool thread
  19. Thats what we all figure up here. There's no law saying that lifts are illegal but the MTO is full of............ you can kinda guess what I wanted to say but I respect the forum. They give us heck if we have oversized tires
  20. Because I live in a border town, you have to declare anything you bring across. Many people try to bring lifted trucks back across from buying them in the US and they will not be let into Ontario because of the lift. A friend spent a month trying to bring across a 1984 chevy with 8 inchs of lift and 38's. It sounds like BS but we have to deal with it all the time. The biggest truck here thats legally on the road is a 90's gmc with 11" of lift and 35's
  21. The Rusty's setup I was looking at looks way cheaper then the RC kit
  22. I was planning on building the cross member because I could do it for way cheaper then what they want for one. I found a Rusty's setup for a xj on sale for $690.00 thats with the arms and the cross member. I'm currently at $1217.34 for a complete LA lift (not including shipping). I personally think thats pretty good. I got the ability to build a 3 or 4 link setup for probably around $500 but I would not trust it on the road, plus I like warrenty :brows:
  23. The Clayton 3 link is a beautiful kit, and would probably be good for you I really like how they have that setup but I don't think the local MTO will like it when they crawl underneath. Lift kits are "illegal" apparently but 1 out of 10 trucks here are lifted and I have some buddy's that have gotten away with a LA setup. Don't get me wrong I love 3 links and 4 links also but I just don't think I would be able to slide by.
  24. I have looked at a few and I like TNT, and Clayton long arms. I'm thinking on the Clayton arms because of the reviews I have read about the Rusty's arms
