SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D -
Did you SOA the rear. Or just buy the Regular spring unders?
-
Yea I'm hoping it works. Cause I really don't want to drill it out :(
-
Definately an AW4.
-
Mine is an allen head an its perfectly flush with the TBI. I'm going to try to beat a torx in it an see if it'll get a good enough bite to get it to come out. if that does'nt work I'm going to try to drill it a hole in it an maybe get it out with an easyout.

I took the exhaust loose at the manifold an tryed to drive it an it still has no power. I have'nt checked fuel preassure cause I can't get the preassure port plug out. I got a Idea how to get it out so I'll try some more tonight an see what happens thanks guys.

By the way the truck only has 117,000 on the clock.

I have a 86 Comanche 2.5L Auto 4x4. My current problem that has me pulling my hair out an going what the @#%$!!!! The engine has no power in Gear, park or Neutral will free Rev. I ran a Compression check it goes as follows Cyl 1-110 Cyl 2-140 Cyl 3-150 Cyl 4-130 I did'nt think that any were way out of range to cause the issue, It does also have a somewhat rough Idle. I have also Changed the following Plugs, Cap, wires, PCV valve, Air Filter, Fuel Filter, Oil an Filter, Rod Bearings, Main Bearings, oil pump. I took the air box apart an checked all the Thermostatic stuff an it all seems to be working. I took the Exhaust lose at the manifold an started it an still nothing. I took the distributor cap off an turned the engine over with a ratchet an the button turns if I move the ratchet about a 1/4 inch (to check timing chain wear). Replaced all the vacuum lines due to the fact they were all dry rotted an split when I got the truck. The only thing I have'nt done is run a fuel pressure check an I have'nt done it because someone stripped the allen head of the bolt out an I have'nt come up with an Idea on how to get it out of the TBI. The truck rolls freely so the brakes aren't hanging up. If anyone could shed some light on the matter please I'm all ears. As you can tell I'm at the end of my rope.

The AW4 is just the name or type of Automatic trans in your truck. An OBD II is the type of Diagnostic

What flexplate would I use? Does the 904 converter bolt to the 3.4 flexplate? Thanks for the info on the T case.

I've kinda seen on here a couple times about a 3.4L swap? I have a 86 Comanche with the 2.5L, 904. Can I get a 3.4 out of a Firebird with a manual trans( so I don't have to worry about the automatic wiring)Wiring harness,Computer, an Dash cluster. Will my 904 bolt to the 3.4L Engine? Or will I have to change trannys to? Also can I take my NP207 out an Put a NP231 in? Same spline count an bolt pattern? I'm new to the whole JEEP thing some I'm kinda try to figure out what will work an what won't. This truck is not a DD so Streetabilty is not a big Issue.

I just gave $600 for my 86 2.5 auto 4x4 longbed. It was a one owner from one of the prisons around here used as a farm truck. Still have the original window sticker in the glove box. But like I said was a Farm truck an looks like it was Beat all to crap an rust issues. But only has 117,000 on the clock.

I figure if I get rid of the CAD,that's one more weak link I don't have to worry about breaking 100 miles from home in the middle of BFE. The less walking I have to do the :-D I'll be. -
How to get rid of the CAD?
bhawkin2 replied to bhawkin2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I don't like the little bitty U joints. I also don't like the fact that if that CAD quits working my 4x4 is inop. I'd rather just grab the shifter an know its in 4x4. -
How to get rid of the CAD?
bhawkin2 replied to bhawkin2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So if I can find a 97-99 XJ front axle it should be a pretty staright forward swap. My truck does not have ABS. Do the 97-99 XJ's all have ABS or was that just a option? Those year axle's have the bigger joints correct? Thanks guys :-D -
How to get rid of the CAD?
bhawkin2 replied to bhawkin2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
OK lets see if I understand this. 1- I can use a axle shaft from a TJ ( inner an outer shaft) 2- That will give me the bigger u joints for the passenger side but what about the driver side joint? will the dr. side axle shaft from a TJ work in mine? To get the bigger u joint? 3- I have to pull the entire front diff apart to fab up some kind of inset for the pass side axle seal. Would It just be easier to get a complete front diff out of a TJ an swap mine out with? Maybe one with 4.10 gears, then I'll just have to buy a gearset for the rear? Which when I put 33" tires on it I'll have to do anyway. I have some pretty good connections with the junkyard around here. -
How do I get rid of the CAD on my front diff Dana 30? Is there any aftermarket axle shafts that are one piece that will work? I can fab a plate to cover the hole in the axle tube. Will a TJ axle shaft work or are they CAD to? By the way it a 86 Comanche 2.5 904 4x4. Thanks :?:

2.5 Rod an Main Bearing???
bhawkin2 replied to bhawkin2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Alright guys here's what I did. I installed New Rods an Main bearings, oil pump an oil pan gasket. I unplugged the coil an fuel pump, cranked the engine until I got about 60 psi of oil preassure. Hooked the coil an fuel pump back up an started it up. I now have 60 psi at a idle an it goes up around 75 psi when i rev the engine up. No knocks, banging, Clanging. Purring like a kitten an quiet as a mouse. Thanks for all the help an advice guys. -
2.5 Rod an Main Bearing???
bhawkin2 replied to bhawkin2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm going to change the filter an oil after I get the bearings back in tomorrow. I'll check the old filter see if I can see anything. My oil preasure dropped to 0 an I shut it off, I started it about an hour after it happened when I had the manual gauge hooked up to make sure it wasn't a bad sending unit or factory gauge. It had about 30psi for about 30 seconds an dropped to 0 reved it up once an the preasure stayed at 0. I'll definatey keep you guys posted. Thank you for the advice, i'm all ears an try anything once or twice. Pending it doesn't hurt to bad the first try. -
2.5 Rod an Main Bearing???
bhawkin2 replied to bhawkin2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Oh cool. I didn't know if it was the same engine used. I thought the newer engines were Diamler Chrysler. An the old ones were AMC. I'll give the local Jeep Dealer a call tomarrow an see if they can get the bearings. I'll try the standard one's I got first though. This is my 1st jeep with a 4 popper. The last jeep I had was the 2.8L Piece of Crap. I'd like 4.0 swap this one but the funds an lack of a garage won't allow me to at this time. Thanks for all your help. :D
