  1. This is what will soon serve as a terminal/diagnostic point for my sensors/grounds
  2. PDC installed and operational
  3. So its been a while with little progress but my Stormtrooper is back on the road. I had one hell of a time going wire by wire and redoing this things entire harness but in the end its worth it. I still have a few bugs to work out vut here are a few pics for you photo nazis:
  4. But most of the fuses in the footwell fuse panel on the MJ are replaced by the fuse panel in the passenger kick panel on the newer XJs, not by the PDC under the hood. Yeah I misspoke before. I have the fsm and all wiring diagrams- basically I'm just relocating the fuse box to under the hood and replacing it with the pdc
  5. I have the diagram and plan to use the relays for their intended purpose. The fuses are going to be used to replace my existing fuse box. ECU runs directly to battery.
  6. As for the new harness progress is slow but steady. The ECU harness is pretty much done. I'm still mapping out the diagram for the PDC. You can't rush electrical work...
  7. Yeah I briefly considered selling it but I decided to keep it. I actually met up w a guy and was pretty emvarassed that so many things were left unfinished... Ive bought other peoples projects before. I won't sell one.
  8. As far as the new setup goes- any thoughts? The MJ has the FP relay, Alt, Ign sw, and hard line from battery all posted off the starter relay terminal. I was thinking that I would run the PDC directly to the battery via the big terminal on the front of the PDC, then all power wires (relays, ECU, ign sw, lighting, stereo/amp, blower motor, wipers, gauges) run through seperate relays. The fus link on the pdc to the alternator. Does this sound right?
  9. did that for my 88 Cherokee before I sold it. had two sets made for just that case.didn't had the money at the time(at first). so i swap the door cylinder on the passenger side of my 89 MJ with the driver side of my 88. then I swapped them back when I got the keys made. I just spent a while at the JY looking at the lock cyl on an xj trying to see if I could swap them out- The lock is simply held to the door from the rear by a square plate- yes? How difficult was it to swap them out?
  10. My plan is to use the 4 of the big relays: Starter, fuel pump, headlights, latched b+ (although I am not sure the function of b+ in the stock renix setup) The 5th mini relay was originally for the ac clutch and will be reused as such in mine, signal lead fed by an in cab switch (stock ac controls and hvac have been removed and replaced with different ones)
  11. Removed: double post
  12. Thank you! And what I am calling a fuse box is the PDC. I am going to use it as a fuse and relay box
  13. I'm in the process of a major rewiring and cleaning up of the engine compartment and am adding an under hood fuse/relay bank from a 2000 cherokee. Can I use the starter relay from the cherokee to engage my starter? Simply put, will the cherokee relay start the truck? I am aware that the comanche relay is wired differently. As I said I am completely rewiring the engine compartment and am moving the fuse box from under the dash and replacing it with the one from the cherokee, relocating it to the passenger side of the engine bay. I have already deleted the C101, added additional grounds to each one of the sensors and run them directly to the ecu and am in the process of connecting the leads to/from the old fuse box to the new one. My reason for wanting to use the cherokees relay are purely cosmetic- I am trying to clean up abd update the tired and over engineered renix harness and connectors, removing anything that isnt used or could cause resistance.
  14. C101 delete is almost finished, just have to finish soldering. Then I plan to go through every wire and remove every crimped connection and splice, solder and heat shrink them.
  15. This is where I plan to mount my new fuse box. The little thing mounted to the inner fender well is an 85 Dodge voltage regulator. There are a few write ups on how to add it to your charging system and it works great
  16. Surprisingly there were 8 XJ's in the yard so I found the best under hood fuse box available and grabbed a ton of fuses. This one is out of a 2000 sport. I also found my trucks twin! Ive only ever been able to find one other MJ in a yard so you can imagine my surprise seeing this beaut. Same motoe and trans so I snagged the speedo cable and valve cover plumbing. I sat there for quite a while going over every inch of it. It was nearly 100% complete, completely stock and only had 120k miles on it. It felt so strange sitting in it knowing this was my EXACT truck at some point...
  17. Initially I figured I would just give it a good cleaning but after I pulled the fuse box and saw more melted, corroded and jumpered connections I decided a new fuse box was in order. While mine functioned ok (a couple of fuses liked to fall out at random) I have never been a fan of it being mounted up under the dash, hidden in a dark jungle of wires and with my dash swap its even harder to try and crane my upper body into the footwell while holding a flashlight to try and check the fuses. A little research and a quick trip to the junk yard and I now have this:
  18. Another problem I found was the crud in my fuse box connector:
  19. And this is a pic of the inside of mine while mounted in its stock location:
