  1. Trying to find the mesh headlight covers for the MJ.... I tried a bunch of searches, ebay, etc... I know I've seen them on here somewhere? Where did you get yours?
  2. hey fellow mtb'er and Comanche enthusiast.... here is my shuttle rig: I've had it for almost 5 years and only decided to get serious about building it up in the last 12 months... http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=14488893&albumId=2107755 I got rid of the renix cooling system first.... later the renix 4.0 and found a wrecked cherokee for the 4.0 HO, bought a 63mm bored tb and cold air kit off ebay, added a flowmaster muffler, re did the suspension w/a RE 4.5" kit, MOOG Ball joints, used Rancho RS9000 shocks w/the My Ride adjustable controller (was gonna order Fox threw a friend who works for my freeride LBS but didn't know that JKS makes shock adapters so you can run Fox on a Comanche/Cherokee)... If you have a friend who works at a LBS they most likely can pro deal you Fox for your truck, hell ya!; just need the JKS adapters)... later did the bushwackers after a friend sold them to me at cost I've driven it back and forth to Whistler at least 20x, out to Port Angeles, down to Mt Hood... the pics are not exactly up to date... in about a month I will add more once I get more lighting on ARB bullbar... If I get a chance I will take a more current pic this w/e which shows the current wheelset and rino lining where the rocks spray... Hoping to get to ride my bike again this weekend! Too much snow where the good riding is!
  3. yeah the ARB mod just adds extra relays directly to the headlights (at a more suitable AWG if I have my facts strait) and like the last post said... you can undo it this way... well I got the thing in w/only an hour and a half of day light and a trip to a car wash!... redid all of the turn signals/side markers/back up bulbs also (just new lamps no new wire)... I will have to post a pic later... I managed to stop by where I ordered the new lamps and these w/b coming next week... and eventually I want to add these dual beams... but I may put that on hold if daylight savings time get here first
  4. I take it the diff between your loom and the ARB one, aside from the fact that you built yours (which in my book is the better way of doing things), is that the ARB has one relay for each lamp/bulb... the part that is still sort of confusing to me is that why not use the Factory relays?... this method seems to just add relays on top of relays... I take it the new relays are rated better etc... I guess it w/b overly complicated to trace/rip out the old factory set up and this is easier... am I answering my own???s... I guess I will get it better when I can get under the hood again... if I'm lucky the next time I log one this w/b a done dealio... once again I have about 1.5 hrs of daylight to work with... Anyway thanks for your help!
  5. It was $100 from ARB... unfortunately my printer is down right now... I will have to try and get it working so I can bring the print out w/me... but after reviewing your thread, http://fitchva.com/jeep/?p=57 thread, and this thread http://gojeep.willyshotrod.com/HowtoHeadlightLoom.htm I think I'm ready to try it again today... hopefully I will get more daylight in today!
  6. will this help any? http://jeep.avtograd.ru/VIN/vin_en.asp btw I'm going to have to open up that drivers side door and look for a build sheet now... will have to remember that one next time I have a moment... you've probly read this but j/i/k... http://www.jeep-comanche.com/#specs
  7. If your a city-slicker and like to wheel in the woods or ORV park always remember a spare door key... If your a city-slicker and park on the street buy a steering wheel club and use it... If you blow through ball joints switch to Moogs... If you have the Renix cooling system get rid of it! it's easier to fix than a newbee would think! for wheels and tires Discount tires has been good to me... If your truck gets fender bendered and the person that hit you leaves a note get a written estimate for repair and see if the person that hit you will pay out of pocket... then do the the work your self and put the money elsewhere into your rig!
  8. So I installed the IPF lenses w/the the IPF Fatboys that are 60/80w... I called ARB/IPF and I was advised to order the M002 wire loom... I only got about 1.5hrs in daylight with it today and I'm wondering if it's really necessary... The way the loom was set up by the previous owner this job looks like it’s gonna be time consuming! But something tells me “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”… or “how many ad-a-boys cancel 1 oh $#!&!” The wire gauge to the headlights only looks about 1 or 2 awg better.... so I’m weighing that in this situation… I hear the headlight grounding is the important part… Since I didn’t open the ARB loom kit and I want to add some other external lights should I send the wire loom kit back? (Apply the credit towards some IPF or PIAA external lights) Am I asking for trouble? Any experience with this type set up? Any cautionary tales? I tried to search this topic and couldn’t find anything other than other people have done this. Any and all input w/b appreciated fellow Comanche-ists.
  9. That looks like a sweet set up... I might have to call them this week and get a quote! Now that's the type info I was lookin for... How long have you been running that for? Wheeled it much? If so how has the swing arm joint held up?
  10. I actually ordered and had shipped to me a tubular like that and I was told that it would fit... but it didn't... it was a Rugged Ridge... I had to ship it back... shipping WA to FL back and forth sux! Thanks Oconee Off Road!... So did you have to modify that to make it bolt up?
  11. I looked into having a buddy weld up a custom bumper and he said he could do it for about $100 over the JC price... I decided to nix it based on his work load, my work load, and adding the powdercoat bill/ lagistics into the situation... I was trying to get ahold of a RockRatz bumper and put this item on hold... decided lighting was more important... The thing about the JC bumper is I would have to do the powder coat thing... Thanks for your input either way!
  12. Greetings fellow MJ enthusiasts... I thought I would ask if any of you can give me a review of any of these rear bumpers?... Comments?, Concerns?, Complaints?... Used any other of the companies products? Tomken RockRails perhaps? 1) Tomken Machine http://www.tomken.com/detail.php?id=360 2) Rock Ratz (which I would have to track down a used one) http://www.rockratz.com/comanchebumpers.html 3) JC OffRoad (which comes unfinished, and adds about $150 in powdercoating costs) http://www.jcroffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=MJST2R&Category_Code=MJB Any info would be greatly appreciated...
