Your Thoughts on a Bolt-on SOA kit
tmmoll replied to tmmoll's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So for a SOA its not needed, but couldnt hurt. Got it. My manche is a 86, no rust but alot of dirt and grime with 86000 miles. Should I replace the leafs or just clean them up a little bit, then some new paint? If I should replace them, were can I get new stock springs? Any other small details I should know about an SOA? -
Your Thoughts on a Bolt-on SOA kit

Sound like Ill just wait on my 8.8. What about a SYE kit? Would I need one when doing a SOA? -
An one have, or heard of somone using there bolt-on SOA kit. The reason I'm going this route is because I'm waiting on a 8.8 for the rear, then I will weld on the perches. But for now i just want to use this kit. Any advice would be great. As for the guys and gals that have used this kit, how much lift did you get in the back?

If you go to a driveshaft shop, they may be able to repair the broken one or build you a new one for around $100.

Look at www.tellico4x4.com. They have the seat brakets from Corrabu. You can use any of there seats with these.

Well it turns out that the hinges are bent back. I got the passenger side on but there is a bigger gap at the bottom of the door. Is this supposed to be thisd way? How do I get the hinges bent back to the right angle?
-
Thats what I did. However the door doesnt sit right. Like I said there is still about a 6inch gap between the door and the body. Ill post pics tomorrow
-
I know that. Thats the easy part. I just need to know if the hinges are suppoesed to be swapped as well. The doors are from a 99 cherokee.
-
Well..... I started to put the driverside door on today and its not fitting right. It doesnt shut all the way, theres about 6inched still left for the door to close. Did I put them on right? I took the bolts off the door and just swapped the doors. Should I have swapped the hinged as well? I wanna make sure I fix this before starting on my passenger side.

I got a sweet deal for a guy and I'm getting both front doors from a 99 cherokee for $100. The only problem is that my manche doesnt have power windows or locks. How do I hook them up with no present wiring there?
-
Are the rears fiberglass as well? They look stock.
-
Does any body have pics of fiberglass fender for both the front and rear? I'm trying to decide if thats the look I'm after.

The best place that I can think of would be were the the ash tray is located. Should fit after cutting the dash to make it fit. -
Slow Acceleration + Breaking Issue
tmmoll replied to mcvader's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have the same problem, until the manche warm up you can floor the gas and not go anywere. I'm thinking it might have to do with a bad fuel pump, or gunk in the lines. -
High idle when in not moving. Please help.
tmmoll replied to tmmoll's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thats a great question, so great I don't have the answer. I quess Ill try to clean that out. -
After I drive for about 20 min in the morning, I come to my exit for work. As I come to a stop I notied that my manche is idling to high. I don't have a tach but its somewere around 3200rpms. I checked all the cables, thought there was some dirt or omthing in them, but they are all fine. Does anybody know what this could be? Its a 86 2.5l 4wd.
-
Thanks Pete.
-
Anybody got any info? Should I replace my engine with a 87-90 or 91-96 4.0l?
-
So should I do a 87-90 or a 91+ engine swap? I found a donor 91 Cherokee 6cyl/5speed 4wd for cheap. Should i get itand do the swap?
-
The Renix 'puter is the same whether auto or stick, it doesn't matter. But, if you use an auto harness you'll have to jump the NSS wires to get it to fire, and you'll have to splice in the backup light switch from the AX15 into the auto harness wiring. I've got the wires you need to do this to identified in my post. You'll also have an extra TPS connector in that auto harness, which you can either ignore (it feeds the TCU that you won't be using), or you can use an auto throttle body that has the second connector. Just plug it in....it won't do anything, but it won't hurt anything either. Jeff By renix you mean 91-96?
-
A transfer case won't bolt up to a 2wd tranny. You will need to find a 4wd donor. Does anybody know why? An AX15 was used for both 2wd and 4wd. After all a AX15 is a AX15.
-
Thanks guys. The only other question that I have is I want to keep it a 5 speed. If I get a doner it will probably be a auto. How to I tell the computer that its going to be a 5 speed? Or if I find a donor thats a 5 speed and its only 2wd, can I still use the trans and t-case, assuming its a ax-15? Or will I have to get a 4wd trans
