  1. Yea, my shocks are completely shot, that was gonna be the first thing I replace.. I'm just wondering what causes when you turn a corner, it feels like its pulling you with the turn too, idk how to explain it.. Any shocks you recommend?
  2. Hey guys, so after completing multiple projects on the mj.. think I'm gonna start looking towards the suspension now.. Anyone have any good recommendations on a "suspension kit". I'm just looking for a good ride, not looking to lift it, just want to not bottom out every speed bump I hit lol..
  3. I can't get any measurements right now, gonna go to harbor freight tomorrow and buy a caliper to measure it. I'll take pics and everything
  4. nah, that's what is stumping me, the one I took out is fully intact, doesn't look like anything is missing off of it.
  5. I appreciate it man, yea, as frustrating as it gets sometimes, I still love to learn how to work on my truck.. everyone tells me to get rid of it, but I can't... I love it lol.. I'll have to look into ordering one of those.. would probably make things a lot easier.. The one on the right in the picture I posted is the original one that I pulled out of the axle tube. Yea, that's what I've been thinking the whole time, I wish I had something to measure the diameter of the axle tube, then measure the bearing I was gonna install, but I don't.
  6. yea, i kind of gave up on it, gonna tow it to a mechanic and have him put it back together
  7. it's raining pretty bad so I'll have to see if I can when it stops raining. If not, I guess I'll have to tow it there. this is what every part store has given me.. it's missing rollers because I broke it trying to get it in there the first time (it was bad technique) and idk why the old one is missing one.. that is a side by side comparison, i just broke the new one. 3 rollers fell out after i smacked it a couple times.
  8. i'm probably just gonna be done with it and send it up to the mechanic, can i push it without a axle bearing?
  9. It has to go in more than this, right?
  10. yea, it isn't budging, could I use a dremel and just grind that lip down? that's whats holding it from going any further back
  11. one on the left is new, right is old. "new" meaning the new one I messed up trying to install it. Edit : Maybe I just need a bigger hammer and a little more elbow grease? I chipped off a little bit of the metal on the new bearing trying to install it yesterday, don't know if that was an error on my part or what..
  12. thats what happened when I tried to chisel it out.
  13. alright, I'll try, I just can't figure out why there is a race whenever I can't buy a replacement from the auto store.
  14. Yes, I did, knew I wasn't gonna get it out any other way.. I just can't figure out what the lip is from... it can't be from a race.. can it? If the bearing removed perfectly fine..
  15. how would I go about getting that lip out of the axle tube? could I just use a dremel and grind it down?
  16. so by "should have come as part of the new bearing" you mean the bearing and race are 1 piece? not 2 seperate pieces? if not, I can't seem to find a new bearing race on the parts list.. and yes, what I removed looks exactly like the new bearing I have.. nothing seemed to break apart or anything..
  17. ya, I think its the wrong bearing..

  19. Let me take a pic of the axle tube and tell me if you see anything abnormal..
  20. yea, got the old one out pretty easily with the slide hammer tool, but when I decide to put this new one in, it won't go in... I've literally broke 2 axle bearings trying to get it to go in.. I have the "specialty" tool from the auto store that you tap with a hammer to get the bearing to go in.. I'm confused as to why it won't go in... should I grease it? am I hitting it wrong? Idk how to be more descriptive, I literally put the bearing in the axle tube, put the tool on it and beat it with a mini sledge and it won't budge.. it just stays in the same position..
  21. This is what I was trying to install : https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/driveworks-wheel-bearing-s-5707/5050138-P?searchTerm=axle+bearing and I think this is what I actually need : https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/national-bearings-5707/15050070-P?searchTerm=axle+bearing Am I right?
  22. Thanks for this, but I'm pretty sure that mine isn't a d44, looks nothing like mine. Plus, the axle bearing wasn't connected to the axle itself, it was inside the "axle pipe??"
  23. Hey guys, having trouble installing a new axle bearing, the seal went out on me, so I figured I'd replace the bearing too.. Now the bad part is, can't seem to get the new bearing in... I've rented the tools to remove/install it, but I can't seem to get it to go into it... Am I doing something wrong? Idk if it should be this hard.. No idea what kind of rear axle i'm running but if it helps I know I had to take a c clip out to get the axle off.. Edit : I should add that its the rear axle bearing, passenger side.
