  1. yeah, the truck trails were reduced to 50km. Before all this, we had at least a couple hundred km's of trail in this area. Something like 120acres they shut down. Here's an example of how bogus this is. And yes, that is a fullsize 3/4ton Dodge That is one of the trails that was taken away from trucks, and given to quads and bikes only. It measured 15.5 feet from sign to sign.
  2. Here's something major that has started up. This area (waiporous) was the best and biggest offroad playground near here. Here's a little copied from their website. GAMP is now official and in effect Here's what it all means to us: 1. Bike Users: There are less than 5km of BIKE only trail in the Ghost. However, Bikes can use all the truck and quad trails. 2. Quad Users: Those of us who use quads to recreate will be able to utilize the largest amount of the remaining trail network. Quads can also go on truck trails 3. Trucks: limited to less than 50km of trails. Meadow creek trail and Lost Knife seem to be the longest routes, along with the trail to the falls (but not from Sept 1 - Oct 31). Nothing East of the 940. No Cow Lake, No Little Red Deer, No Harold Creak. No Wolftrap. No Killer Cutline. No Cabin Creek (bypass or trail). The government has chosen to implement a "Closed unless posted Open" Policy for the Ghost, which means - unless there is a sign explicitly stating you can use the trail, the trail is officially closed to motorized recreation. In terms of enforcement, expect a "soft start" of warnings and explanations of what all the changes are for the next few months. However, make no mistake, this is the law of the land in the GHOST FLUZ. Ghost/Waiporous is our only winter offroad area. The other area is closed from October 1 to March 31
  3. here's one from central Alberta
  4. just my dad's plain old manual bender. Can't remember the name of it. Edit: It's an M-Tech
  5. 1.75" 0.120 wall DOM for the main part, we have .095 coming in for some minor supports to save weight.
  6. Although i didn't post the buildup or pics of my bumpers (phase I) i will of phase II. This phase will be interior cage with bed drops, RCI buckets with 5-points and the 2" coil spacers. We started yesterday. We gutted the truck (except for dash) and i must say my floorboard is all surface rust . All we got done yesterday was bending up the main hoop for behind the seats, a crow blew up the transformer and we were without power for 3 hours. Took us awhile to wrap our heads around the math of bending, but in the end the hoop came out tighter to the body than we expected. Today will be a slow day, we are shooting for drilling holes in the cab for the bed drops. I'm also going to do the hard task of assembling the seats. I'll keep updating for progress but before any of you go on posting the "This thread is useless without pics" emoticon... i still use the classic camera with film. It makes me angry because some shots don't turn out, and i'm hoping all the ones i'll be taking will turn out. And i'll make sure that before I do phase III, i'll buy a digital camera. So don't expect pics for another 2 or 3 weeks (i know it sucks). Also, i'm going to go ahead with the 92+ cooling swap post cage. My dad's shop is about an hour and a half away from where i live. The gauge was running deep red at 120kmph. Something doesn't seem right with that... Any tips or questions you have, post em up. Kyle
  7. nice   I've always like bodydropped trucks. And the comanche has a nice body style to do it with. Can't wait till it's done.
  8. Sorry, that was unclear on my part. I meant get that fixed (as in new rad) with electric fans (to keep it extra cool). I'm not sure if this would make a difference but the clicking coming from the console only happens in 2wd, it's non-existent in both 4hi and 4lo
  9. Thanks for reply. The pump started leaking so i replaced it, and i guess i didn't get all the air out of the system cause 2 minutes of driving after i replaced it the thermostat shut closed so i replaced it. As for the highway driving, it doesn't overheat but it is dangerously close to the red for being at that speed. I'm looking into the 92+ cooling conversion with a 3 row rad and electric fans, that should be sweet for the temperatures up here. The stock rad looks real ugly. I'm gonna slap in some 2" spacers to level out the truck, so i'll check all the bushings and stuff then. I'm not sure on how the PO treated this thing, but i have a feeling i rescued it. He said he bought it off his boss 3 months before I bought it. The guy didn't even know how to open the hood (it was seized). The engine was very very dirty, i slammed 2 bucks at it during a car wash. How long would a headgasket take? I was looking at everything that i would have to take off and the amount of stuff in the compartment and figure up to 4 hours for the job.
  10. Hey guys! I've been registered for a little while but never posted. I'm new to Jeeps (was strictly Chevy) and i have a question for you MJ guru's. The thing is overheating like mad , it sticks in red even when it's 10* outside (rad is bad, gotta get that fixed with electric fans) which would make this 30* weather even worse. Thing leaks oil from headgasket, i have the headgasket just need time. On top of that, the transmission, which i recently indentified as the dreaded pukegoat, shifts extremely hard. I'm checking the oil level tomorrow. I drove to Mopac the other day (only about a 20 min drive doing a max of 60kmh), and when i started my truck to come back it's idle rose to 2000rpm (guessing it's a vacuum problem, the CCV crap is pretty worn out) but came back down after a slight tap on gas. Then while pulling out of parking lot, it kept wanted to stall in first. It needed a lot of gas just to keep it from stalling. After that it started hesitating in 3rd and 4th gear. The thing is making a bunch of odd noises, can't identify alot of them. I know a few are from suspension and steering. There's a slight knock up front, there's clicking from the valve cover when it shuts off, and there's a load of clicking coming from the console and you can feel the transfer case lever vibrating to the clicks. I'm not sure what else i can throw into this post. If i start fixing the stuff i mentioned (headgasket, CCV stuff, cooling, check oil) would it return to normal? Am i just nervous when it comes to these Jeep engines? It's the 4.0 with about (i'm guessing) 250,xxx km's. Thanks, Kyle.
