rear triangulated 4 link w/ coils
rredalty replied to rredalty's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It would require a fuel cell or for a little extra there might be an MJ specific fuel take to work with the link set. Also considering the 3 link with panhard mount route but not sure yet. 3 link would allow the tank to stay where it is. -
Would anyone be interested in a single triangulated 4 link using coils for their MJ's? I'm working with a company right now considering manuracturing a kit that would be weld on but designed specifically for the MJ starting with the shortbed. Price would be no more than $1200 and all you would have to supply is the coils and shocks. Just imagine, for not much more than a front long arm you could open a box and with a little welding, end up with a properly set up 4 link that wouldn't take forever to design and the math already be done. Is there any interest in this at all, or are the MJ destined to live on leafs forever?

I'm going to get a longer front shock and with that I'll gain a little droop and then set my bumpstops/ limit straps off that setup.

Well aside from a cage and getting one more seat in it, IT'S DONE. Drives great, needs longer shocks in the front but that's no biggie. Hydro assist is beautiful, 2hi sucks but 4low is better than the previous setup with 4.56's and 33"s. Also got the rope on the winch but that was after the photos. I'll drive it to work tomorrow then it's onto the trailor for the remainder of it's life. Street drives great but after a trip from the house to the gas station, the tires were soft and sticky(moreso than I have ever seen) and that's alot of money to be laying on the hwy. In the pic, the driver rear is propped on 4' of pallets. Time to trim...

Beadlocks are done and mounted and here is a steering pic.

I got the beadlock rings welded up tonight and tomorrow the hardware will be at the shop ready to bolt everything together and back on the Jeep.
-
right about 87" without the weld on beadlocks( about 5" too wide for my trailor)

New t-case is in, driveshafts are hooked up front and rear, steering linkages are done and installed, coils are in the final position, front shock mounts are done, beadlock rings are in hand, beadlock hardware and cage tubing will be here friday. It moved...

Bear with me, the trac bar isn't mounted yet and the body has relaxed downhill to the driverside. Also ordered a custom shaft from Tom Woods today to adapt from the 1310 SYE to the 1410 Sterling rear.

upper shock mount relocating
rredalty replied to MiNi Beast's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It required having the bed off but I built and welded in a crossmsmber right above the rear axle on mine and that left plenty of room to mount the shocks off of. -
Got most of the bracketry welded on tonight (until I ran out of gas) aside from the upper mount, trac bar mount and the hydro assist tabs. going to try to get the rest of the welding done tomorrow and have it on its own weight.

PSC steering pump/ res/ cooler and lines are here and the assist parts will be here thur. Got the box rebuilt/ drilled and tapped today and the rear is in... Does this make my @$$ look big...?

Old floor was nothing but rot and I wanted a sturdy base for the cage so I built a set of new floor pans from some leftover 16g steel I had.

Got side tracked but here is the status, Boggers got sold and oredered a new set of 39.5x16.5x17 Pitbull Rockers. BallisticFabrication weld on beadlock rings are on the way. Front bracketry almost finished and close to being welded on, new brake rotors, pads and 4 studs to replace the missing ones. Rear perches, 3.5" u-bolts and .5" spring top plates are here and ready to go on. Tires are getting mounted on new rims tomorrow, also got a PSC pump kit here already with pump, reservoir, hoses and a derale cooler. Tomorrow ordering a PSC 1.75"x 8" assist cylinder with hose kit and the complete box rebuild kit will be at advance auto tomorrow. I also scored some MJ buckets with MJ center console so I'll have the seats recovered and ready to bolt into the new floor in the next few weeks. Interior will be pretty "pimpin" when it's all done but more about that as it comes together.

Might as well add that all the parts are here, just need to find the time to get it together. Axles are '03 f-350 tons, D60 front and 10.5" sterling rear. 35 splines f/r rear disk brakes, Miller locked f/r, 5.38's capped off with Solid covers. Also planning to pick up PSC pump, lines and res this weekend. Not sure wether this will get full hydro or just assist. I still want to keep it streetable.

Tires are at home now. Swamper Boggers 39.5x18x16.5. Brand new, still got tits. This is beside Tiffs Jeep on 33"s with 4.5" lift. __________________

Well I'm going this weekend to grab a set of tons for it. This is going to get interesting...

Pain in the @$$ but aside from some nit picky things, the BA-trash is out and the AW-4 is in and driving.

You'rs looking at 35x12.5 procomp x-terrains and 15" allied rockathon beadlocks. Also have a matching spare rim and new dunlop mudrover spare tire( No procomp spare b/c they are directionals.)

Slowly but surely it's getting there. Big thanks to High2by and PacificEd for the dash harness. I got it swapped in and everything is working the way it should now. While the dash was out I dyed it to match the suade/ leather seats and door panels I made for it so now everything matches( aside from some small things). Also needed to get some new trim pieces for the front and at the JY they had 5 or 6 97+ XJ's so I figured I'd make use of the 97+ header panel I had laying around. I scored the grill, bezels and all lenses for a grand total of $25. Got it all together for now and here's a few pics.

Time for an update. It did well at the flog but with a bum D30(both joints popping and all the brackets previously tweaked) I didn't romp on it too hard. It did need some trimming and longer rear shocks. I had to decide weather to swap to big joint shafts I had laying around and fix the brackets, or swap the gears/ locker to another axle I had with the big joint shafts already. Last night the good axle got gutted, trussed, mini skids and the gears/ locker from the bad axle and this morning I stuffed everything in there. Also tossed on a new set of wheels/ tires I recently recieved. Got a set of procomp xterrains and allied beadlocks. Still need to finish trimming but with the new 1.75" spacers it sits pretty good.
