Ah ok. I'm just reselling this axle for profit, I couldn't find the drum down there so thats gonna set me back a little on value. Since I can get brakes pretty cheap I was looking for something easy to increase the value.

Apparently the ZJ disks can be made to fit, but its WAY easier to use crown vic or exploder brakes (go figure) I wonder if the Lincoln Mark VII vented disks could be made to fit, they are also on a Ford 8.8. I may try to swap those onto my XJ D44 and do a write up, but I have already gone through the brakes on it, at a significant cost. Anyone price out XJ or MJ D44 drums lately? Parts stores are mighty proud of em, reason enough to switch to disks. ;) D35 brakes fit just fine on them if you're on a budget. So ZJ dana 35 disk brakes will boltup?

Rear bumper looked nice, real nice.

It's not white, its blue-green. That was supposed to be the joke.

It's a "6" for todays date so I know how old they are in the fridge. Acutally free range eggs that are made from leafy greens are much lower in LDL and higher in HDL. Plus, they taste delicious.

Well loaded up the Jeep with the tools and my buddy Justin, and drove back down to the junkyard. Got down there and started pulling an axle. Before I got too much into it I looked back at what was supporting the rear of the Exploder. Nothing. Well almost nothing, someone had jacked up the rear and set the leaf springs on some brake disks. BUT only the passenger leaf was touching the disk, the drivers side, not at all. So I'm sitting cross legged on the ground going "this seems like it would be unstable, let's gently shake the vehicle to see. I grab and gently shake the vehicle to have my efforts rewarded by the vehicle sliding several inches. So I bolt up(and hit my head on the exploder next to this one), and get back away from it. My buddy shows back up a few minutes later after looking for a 5.2 alternator, and I show him what happened. we decided the best course of action was to jack it up in the back, and then shove a tire and wheel between the bumper and the concrete block. So we grab a jack and are trying to get it to work. In the process of doing so I rest my left hand on the exploder and lean it to get a better look at the jack(seeing how it seemed it was screwed up). Just the slight bit of pressure sent the exploder flying off the disk and smacking down into the concrete block. After that it was still resting somewhat precariously so we decided it wasn't worth it for a potential $75 profit each. Plus I got a Dana 60 and XJ 44 to sell. Was really hoping to come back with a 4.10 8.8 to continue the thread from yesterday.

I was thinking that I could increase the value of this axle by putting some disks on it before I sold it.

Its the SD33, also the diesel engine used in scouts. Its a good engine, you might be able to find the turbo setup for it online. do you mean this engine http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/view ... =7&t=14123 Yes thats the SD33 out of a scout as noted in the build thread.

Also, anyone know if ZJ D44 disk brakes will bolt on....or are they different?

Apparently, found another truck that had a Dana 60 in it, once again I was there too late. Come across a good number of trucks that had D60s in them, someone just beat me to them. I've come across many 87's that have had the axle pulled already. Heck my buddy who goes with me grabbed 2 XJ D44's before decided that if I was the one driving, and I was helping him load them and transport them out of the junkyard, we better start splitting the profit.

(not talking about the D60 in the background) Found a XJD44! Craigslist here I come!

I had a 61 Ranchero for awhile............ You had the Ranchero, 2-door, 2-door convertible, 4 door, and station wagon. Pretty nice lineup from one chassis.
-
I HATE 2 door vehicles with a passion, at least when there's an option for a 4 door. Also, I HATE, 4 door vehicles with a passion, at least when there's an option for a wagon. Don't get me wrong, a sports car I want a 2-door, manual, convertible. For something that I need as a daily driver usable car, give me a 4 door JK, or a station wagon subaru. But for me utility is more important "sportyness." Station wagons are sexy. Course I was never the type to worry about dressing up, or wearing cologne. For me form over function.

I've seen worse.

Thank you, unfortunately it doesn't go back far enough. Does anyone know how far back those checks can go? I need to go back to the early 90's I think. x2 I picked up an 80 the other day and am wondering if there is a way to get the history on somethign that old. 1980 won't have a 17 digit vin, can't run it.

That's "Spelling Nazi" to you sir! Also, the angel vs angle was a good example of a malaprop.
-
Would it have made a difference? Angle and Angel are both words, the autocorrect won't catch it.

I prefer this kind of blue Angles:
