  1. Sorry , but what do you mean by "cycle" The track bar and sway bar to the links arent connected yet, they would'nt have anythig to do with allignment would they? I notified Rough country and am waiting for there reply. I've searched lots of reveiws on this lift and most are possitive plug and play without any headaches. I'm starting to get one!
  2. not sure if anyone looks at old topics but I'm doing the same 5 speed 2x4 to 5 speed 4x4. Problem is I decided to add a Rough Country 4.5 lift and nothing is lining up in the front with the coils. Axle seems to far back and tilted towards the back
  3. I just measure the new control arms and they are 1/2 longer than the old. I'm thinking there not long enough to put the axle back forward rotating to to center it with the bumper jounces. That being said the uppers would need to be longer as well....just like you said, something is missing!
  4. \ no load under load no load under load Any ideas guys would be helpful? thanks
  5. why would rough country sell a mj specific kit without all of the proper components? I'm working on the pics hopefully they will help?
  6. love to show some pics, but I can't upload anything to this site....any idea why?
  7. hey guys, just installed front axle with 4.5" rough country lift and doesnt look right? coils make a bit of an s bend and ,not lined up with bumpers sitting on stands, I know the lower control arms are adjustable will they staighten it out?
  8. yes I think your correct, they do seem to be welded in AWW! Guess I'll have to get my buddy over hear with his welder (another hurdle cleared)
  9. ya I'll keep lubin her up, and give it a shot tomorrow, and I know all about the rust belt. I've lived it my whole life (rust check is my freind)
  10. What kind of lab you got there bud :laughin:
  11. its been there 25yrs, I don't think its going to cooperate that easily? I think your right though ....I was hoping for a miracle cure
  12. Hey Guys, I have to change both coil isolators. Anyone have any tricks to get the bumper (jounce) off without causing to much damage? Looks like the only way to slide the new isolator on.
  13. its all good! thanks
  14. ya I'm going to try the tap 1st...I was just concerned about which method might be safer ? Hand bombed tap isn't my specialty
  15. snapped all 4 bolts when removing bar from frame, I was going to re-tap but thought drilling straight up through top of frame with new 6" bolts...has anyone done either, or any other ideas?
  16. Has anyone installed a rough country 4.5 lift and used the factory rims? Rough country says you have to purchase the wheel spacers. Is that true or are they only for installing 30"+ oversized tires? Any suggestion would be helpful, I have factory steels and aluminums so don't really want to spend the extra $ on shallow rims.
  17. So by by -passing the system it will turn continuous unless I transfer the whole vaccum system, lot of work for a little gas mileage?
  18. hey guys my 88 2wd i'm converting to 4wd using 91 cherokee donor, concerning the vacuum for accuator and power on the 91 what are my options for conversion to the 88. Were these normal in 88?
  19. It was some years ago but I had the something similar with my 88 2wd, .ended up being the steering shock stabilizer. Changed it out and never had another problem.
  20. Does anyone know if 4.5 kit requires extended sway bar links and if we do? do they ussually come in the kit?
  21. You were right on about the cable....sending unit turns right out of transfercase tailstock and accepts 88 cable . figure out the ID of the AX-15 thanks
  22. Wow, that easy? That's a load off...thanks for the info, while I have you , what does the j stand for on the end of the 231 transfercase? and my manual says identification on the AX-15 is on the bottom which they are but dion't jive with what they are suppose to identify?
  23. I just removed my 1991donor xj's ,ax-15 and 231j for my conversion 2wd to 4wd onto 1988 mj. Could'nt help but notice the 91 speedometer must be electronic and not going to couple up to the 88's cable. Any suggestions on how I coud make this work ?
  24. . Tranny out and thanks (male torx bolts?) ...it is a Peugeot BA-10/5, bad reveiws on this one not sure why, this ones been great for me ! Are they worth anything? I'll look for an 88 guage cluster with a tach, should'nt be that hard to find.
  25. Great info guys, so what about the indicating wiring for the 4wd, is it there as well? Likely not necessary but might be nice. Also my mj has the large fuel guage where the tach should be. The donor xj has a tach, would the whole guage panel transfer into the Mj?
