  1. My two post lift. I hate lying on my back in cat litter.
  2. Ok.. so I can't spell. But I are a good car fixer.... And I found the DW happening on the freeway when I would hit a bump. Had to slow to below 45 and jerk the wheel to one side to get it to stop. Drove from downtown Dallas to just west of DFW airport at 45 mph. That sucks.
  3. I have the same problem with my passenger door. What is the "bolt looking thing"?
  4. You could always get a handful of big wheel weights and add them randomly to the inside of his wheels one night. Another good one is to take an air tank and take the filler off of it. Then fill it half full of water. Put the filler back on, and refill with compressed air. One dark night you let the air out of his tires, and then refill from your air tank while holding it upside down. This will push the water into the tire, and he will never be able to drive it due to balance issues, and the tire store won't be able to rebalance them without removing the tire from the rim and drying it out. This works even better when it is below freezing, because he suddenly has a big block of ice in the bottom of his tire. Yea.. I know I am new here, but I absolutely hate people that mess with someone else's vehicles.
  5. I want to thank everyone here who has contributed to a death wobble thread on here. I had a SEVERE case of death wobble on my 88 2wd that absolutely scared the hell out of me and my wife. So I did some searching on the forum. Boy, did I get an education on troubleshooting DW. It quickly led me to check all the components on the front end, and I found the frame end of the track rod was so worn it would move 3/8 of an inch side to side. I replaced the track rod, and my truck is back to normal again. I also did tie rod ends and the steering damper as insurance. Next is the Lower control arms. Again, thanks everyone. This place rocks!  Clay Perrine 74 Porsche 914 1.8L "Frodrick" 73 Porsche 914 2.4L MFI Six "Igor" 95 BMW 540i "Inga" 68 Porsche 911 Normal "Abby Normal" 88 Jeep Commanche 4.0 2WD. 6. That is good info. I will check it out asap. (After I replace the worn out track bar on the front.....Death Wobble).
  7. Thanks.. I didn't know where the ground point was for the insturment cluster. Ground issues are always a problem on old vehicles. I will add the wire you suggest and let you know.
  8. Hi. I have an ongoing electrical problem. It started happening since shortly after the truck was purchased in 88. My father and I tried many times to find the issue, but no luck. When you turn on the headlights the turn signal indicators will (most of the time) come on and stay on. They blink with the signals, and nothing on the outside seems to be inop. This has driven me batty for 25 years. Anyone experienced this and can you offer suggestions? Thanks, Clay
  9. Hi. I am new to the forum, and I have a 88 2 wheel drive 4.0L Pioneer that I bought from the original owner... my Father. I went with him to the dealer in 88 to pick it up. So I know all the history of it. I use it for a parts hauler and a trailer towing vehicle. I have pulled a car trailer with one of the Porsches on it from Fort Worth to North Carolina, and the truck never missed a beat. I hope to be able to get advice and tech info from y'all, as I am fairly new to Jeeps, but not to automobiles. Thanks in Advance.
