Where do you get these...?!? Please :) Also, where'd ya mount your shocks? Any random place...? Thanks!

I'm trying to research the same rear axle set up...I want a D44 or Ford 8.8 to make it cheap, but I don't want a HUGE lift in the rear.... I just ordered JKS adjustable LCA and UCA...and 4.5" springs, drop pitman, extended brake lines, etc. for the front. Could you post a side pic or two and more about your set up? Did you use the stock (saggy :)) rear leaf springs? Is there another way to reduce the amount of lift when going SOA..? So it doesn't look all raked out? Thanks! Could you post

Success! I cut all the A/C wiring and relay out of the engine bay (nicely), pulled the positive from the aux fan to the 87 pin on the relay and it turned on! I'm relieved and it looks cleaner in there too! My lingering question would be what (I know, I should get a FSM...) color the wire on pin 87 on the AUX relay is so i can splice in there and not through the top of the fuse box...? Thanks for all the help! . :MJ 1: .
-
of course it has to be different :) I'll give it a try and report back. Thanks! And the white relay is a standard 5-pin relay from the local crap auto shop...granted it's an 'import'...but you know...in a pinch it might work...

Thanks so much so sticking with me. I'm at work so can't check voltage right now, but last night I'm fairly certain I did not have voltage at the aux relay coil (85/86 pin) when the truck was running. Both the locations were at negative/grounded (?) potential (I concluded this by probing them independently to the battery positive terminal and noting +/- ~12V ) I think that's my issue...I'm not getting voltage there...however, I'll try again when I get a chance. Here is an image of my current PDC. Yours is SO CLEAN :) Does it look like I'm missing something crucial?
-
Thanks Hornbrod. understood. i don't think I'm getting the 12V with the ignition turned on. It seems like both 85 and 86 are grounded with the key on. I'd like to retain mostly stock wiring; what wire/where would be the best option to safely tap into a 12V source for that leg of the relay coil? Could I jumper from the fuse you mention above? And separately, do you think the fact that i don't have my A/C functioning is causing some issues? Like the A/C would send the 12V after the A/C relay is closed?
-
Thanks, yes, i should get a FSM. I have a Hayes repair manual, but it is junk. Forgive me, but until I get a proper manual, where is Fuse 8? I looked at the PDC and couldn't find it... I under stand it's an ignition powered 12V....but which fuse in the PDC does it correlate to please? (ie...IOD, starter...etc). I took an image but can't upload it now. Thanks....

Alright, this is getting stupid and I'm getting frustrated... I replaced the relay with the correct one (5 pin above), new fuses and everything seems legit. Ground out the 'BLU/PNK wire and.....NOTHING happens. great. what am I missing? What is the 'F12 splice'? I don't have any manual to reference... Thanks,

So on my AX15 92 MJ 4.0 I have no reverse lights. They suddenly stopped working. What is the fuse labeled as? I have no TRANS fuse...
-
Will do...! Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. The PO must have put a 4-prong relay in the AUX fan location. I'm thinking from Hornbrod's replies that it must be a 5-prong. I will replace the blown 15A aux fan fuse tonight and put the proper relay in that spot. Turns out also the 4-prong relay is pinned differently...so my issues are probably stemming from that:) I never had the aux fan working; everything is stock under the hood pretty much, and the A/C is hooked up but not charged. I'm thinking either remove it, charge it and see if it works or turn it into onboard air... I noticed the temp crawling high, but not close enough to the red range for me to worry. I would stick the heater on and it would climb down. Now that I want to wheel a bit more, I'd like to have the option on turning it on/off where necessary. This mod seems perfect for what I want to accomplish. Thanks for your replies, and I'll be trying this out in the next couple days.

Thanks so much! This may be a silly question, but must the truck be running? And not only the key in the run position? I definitely heard the relay click...and the fan was plugged in...but now that I think about it, the engine must have not been running... Oh and my reverse lights are not working now...:/ Are the two issues related somehow by chance...? Thanks again!

Hi Hornbrod, Sorry for digging up old stuff. So I tried this tonight: Checked fan are input wires and it spins; great. Located the BLU/PNK wire from my wiring harness (near the driver side/clutch MC) and grounded it like I think you are saying with the above diagram. Grounded the BLU/PNK wire... The relay clicked but the AUX Fan did not turn on. I then started poking around and ended up blowing the AUX fan fuse :/ My Question I guess is for clarification on the above diagram....in relation to a common Bosch relay (85/86/87/30 pins) how do your 1/2/4/5 pins correlate? I was pretty sure it is 85 = 4, 30 = 2, 86 = 5 and 87 = 1, but that didn't work out for me... All I have to do is ground the BLU/PNK wire, right....? I have a 1992 MJ 4.0L stock under the hood. Thanks!

2WD driveshaft u-joints same as 4WD driveshaft u-joints?
Rohls replied to gradon's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
hate to resurrect such an old thread...but i guess better than started a new one with the same question... What is the spicer part number I need for both/either the front and rear driveshaft u-joints? Mentioned above is the Spicer 1310...but is that specific enough? Sorry, just don't want to order the wrong stuff. Would this be the S-153X? And is greasable really better in these locations? I replaced the front with non-greasable because they are a little stronger...plus the OEM ones are not greasable, right? Least they aren't in my rig... Thanks! I have the 4x4 4.0 5-speed MJ if it matters. -
Hi All, Looking for a used (read: cheaper) 'cold air intake' for my 4.0 MJ. Doesn't have to be fancy, just don't want to spend $$ on a new one. Lemme know what you got! I live in CA. Thanks!

Whoa...! I had heard-tell that Hell Creek was no more...but, they do in fact still have a website and a kit for the MJ...sweet! I remember hearing good things about these guys....true? Thanks~~

I had the same problems, but then I found this: http://comancheclub.com/topic/35519-55-600-mj-lift-cheap-high-quality-100-complete-lift-please-read-note/ I installed all of it last weekend and it drives perfect but now looks dope. A lot of the parts are cheaper in Amazon Thanks for this. It sorta leads me down another rabbit hole because it is not current anymore... :dunno: Could I bother you to post your list of parts? . :MJ 1: . . :MJ 1: .

Thanks, yeah, I know I wouldn't want to regear the D35. My issue is that it's perfectly fine in there now, and has served me fine for the 85k miles it's been in there...so why mess with a good thing, right? Do I really want to pick up a D44 (or another 'better rear end') from a JY and cross my fingers that one is gonna last me...?
-
Ideally i'd like 33"...and realize I need to regear then. I'm not sure the best route. An axle swap seems a little much in my current situation. what gears do you suggest with my stock D35/30? people say it's not 'worth it', but i don't have a lot of options and do not plan on serious hardcore wheeling, just the occasional trail-to-camp recon. Thanks.

I want to re-lift my MJ as I currently have a cheapy AAL ~2" lift that has been sucking since day 2...grrrr. My MJ is my daily driver and I can't really afford it to be hanging around my non-existant garage...yeah. I've been eyeing the 5" and 6" RRO lift because it's seemingly all incompassing...and that's the biggest attraction; just pull the trigger and wait for package to arrive and bolt it on over some beers/friends/weekend. I would not mind piecing together a lift if I had a solid list to work from...I love my MJ, but again can't afford to be missing a piece when my truck is broken apart for the weekend. And it doesn't seem to matter how many posts I read, I still can't find a solid list that has the total quality items I'd like....OME springs, ajustable track arm (JKS?), proper control arms, do I need a drop pitman arm?, etc.... Thoughts?

ORS (off Road Specialties) stubby bumper
Rohls replied to Rohls's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks guys! Yeah, sucks that the ORS aren't around anymore, or I have to believe that they are not because they don't reply to emails...have yet to call them, but hesitant to purchase something for $$ if their customer service isn't great.... How do I get in touch with Max (aka dirt bound)? Who else makes great stubby winch bumpers...? I don't want crap... Thanks!! -
Anyone running these ORS winch bumper with wings? I've emailed the contact twice on the site, but to ZERO reply...kinda suspicions...I couldn't find much here on them, so thought I'd ask. i really like the bumpers, but don't want to send my money off and never get one :( Any good/bad experiences with them recently? I found some old posts, but nothing recent. http://gear-geeks.com/bumpers.html Thanks.

OME934 coils on stocker MJ...need to change much else?
Rohls replied to Rohls's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks Hornbrod! Helpful as usual. . :MJ 1: . Is there a thread that covers LCA shimming well...? Axle re-centering...? Maybe that's not a big deal...but, I don't want to botch it. Will this set up still work if I'd like to get a bumper/winch some day, or will I be sagging in the front?- 5 replies
