How much would it be to rebuild a rear with new gears?

I have an 87 2wd 2.5 5 speed with what I believe are 4.10's. I have an 89 4.0 front axle with 3.55? I'm currently looking at an 85 XJ with 3.73's and the rear has issues, broken teeth and maybe more. The XJ is the 2.8 and if I stay with 2.5 for the 4x4 swap what should I go with for an axle ratio? I also have a V8 that I may drop in some day.

The 89 parts truck I picked up had it taped to the driver's side floor board.

Yes I agree trucks should look like trucks but if you wanted a bed cap and wanted to be different here one idea. But honestly for me I probably wouln't use it much if I made it. Having a roll bar is way better.

I don't know if anyone has thought of this before but I just thought of a crazy idea for someone with a 2 door xj donor jeep. Why not turn that cargo bay into a cap. I don't know the exact dimensions of the 2 door xj's but maybe by combining it with another xj 2 or 4 door. Something kind of like the chermanche creations. After seeing some of the mods on here I'm sure someone with a little ingenuity could build one. Any thoughts?

Right now I'm just spit-balling ideas. I have the stock 5 speed 2.5(4.10?) now but I have a front axle from a 92 4.0(3.55?) and right now I'm thinking of making a 4banger 4x4 5 speed. I just need to figure out how to get the 4x4 axles set. I might just buy anouther mj and bite the bullet for $600 idk. Either way I need to put a whole floor pan in either truck to go but the other is a 4x4 5 speed with bed rot and a 4.0. Decisions decisions. At least I have a donor MJ for a floor pan. Big project either way.

92 jeep Comanche body + 4.0 6cyl motor - $1 (colchester) Jeep Comanche body, I believe its a 92 has no motor no trans and no rear end in it at the moment, although I have a blown rear that I can put in it so it roles if the moneys right. It has dings and dents but not to much rot, bed is good. I can try and dig up the title if needs be Also have a straight 6 4.0l Jeep motor with a believe around 150xxx on it. I have 2wd 5speed as well, motor ran good before it was removed. Take it all or seperate, looking for around 250 for the body and 200 for the motor 100 trans make me an offer. I read somewhere on the forum that javelin axles are the right size for the MJ's. Awe well.

If I was going to upgrade the motor/tranny. I have the front end from a 4x4 4.0 that might put in. Right now its the regular stock dead axle up front. But I was curious about the amc 20's and I saw that MJ's could fit them.

What would it take to swap a 2x4 with a 2.5 to 4x4? As far as the rear end is concerned. I have a javelin rear end out of a 74 AMX with a 360 2 barrel.
