  1. well let me be the first to call dibs...DIBS on the brackets!!! I sent you a pm so lets see if we can work something out.
  2. well thanks for the sites guys but that certifit for whatever reason won't work for me and the other so far only has front bumper mounts and not the rear like I hope I had mentioned. Yeah its been extreamly rough trying to find what I need. I guess i'll just have to wait until I get the bumper and figure something out.
  3. I purchased a bumper off a member on this site and it should arrive any day now. My question to you guys is, where can I find a bracket to mount it with? Its a OEM Stock bumper and my driver side bracket has rusted through so I am forced to bunjee the bumper on that side so it doesn't bounce around and what not. Basically looking for either a part number for that or a suggestion for a site that would help with that. I've looked at rockauto.com and autopartswarehouse.com and a few others and they either don't list it or want something close to 50-60 bucks plus shipping for it.
  4. yeah I still haven't got it yet but kinda have to work on something else since I had to go rescue the wife, truck just stopped working in the middle of the road....stupid truck. Anywho thanks for all your help.
  5. well I didn't think to ask for a switch on here so I took one of the rocker switches I had laying around and just snipped the old one off, put connectors on the ends and hooked it up to the new one. A side from the fuses i'm still convinced its because I couldn't figure out witch wire was what. I'll be checking the fuses when I get home though.
  6. Ok so a few weeks ago I broke the power/comfort switch and had wired in a new one. Now it doesn't work at all. I've tried different combos for the wires going into the new switch and still feels like nothing. Now I know you guys are going to tell me I don't need it and its better to run it in comfort mode or whatever. Now thats cool and what not but it really bugs me that now it doesn't work and even if I never use it I still would like to have it working. So any suggestions and does anyone know what each of the three wires are? I dunno what is what and i'm sure thats half the problem.
  7. no thats fine, thats why I decided to convey what exactly the problem was I was having. Just means that slowly i'll have to replace things seeing as in how it is an old truck and i'm pretty sure i'm the first owner to actually take care of the stupid thing.
  8. well I dunno if its the exhaust or not but when I shut the truck off and sometimes when its running you can get that gas smell. I kinda don't think its a leaky line since still have yet to see any puddles when idling for like 15 mins or more. I do need to get that pressure problem fixed either this week or next since its starting to spudder now if you kinda floor it from a dead stop.
  9. Ok so my fuel gauge is acting funny. My truck is a 88 comanche short bed, 2wd w/ 2.5L motor. When i'm accelerating the gauge goes up, as soon as I reach whatever speed i'm going for the gauge goes down at least a quater of what it was reading when accelerating. Example; reads full but when speed is reached goes down to quater tank sometimes in between half and quater tank. Is this a sign that something is about to die?? Now mind you I think I also have a fuel pressure problem since the thing sucks gas like its a v-8 so its either running really rich or I have a leaky line some place. Anyone have a crazy gauge like this before?
  10. If you really want a Comanche I'll let you buy mine for 750 Bucks. If you're willing to either come get it or pay to have it shipped or we can work something out. Thats my lil monster. Either way I hope you end up with something reliable and not a turd.
  11. well from my experience both with past trucks and the tuner cars i've had a gauge is a gauge. Either made by sunpro or some uber expensive brand name. they all work the same and it just comes down to proper install. Now mind you this is just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt or however the saying goes. I think its a good idea but maybe not so huge unless you like the rice look or you have a hard time reading things. But like I said good idea and as far as a custom dash i'll look around and see if I can't find something that the local jeep club guys ahve done.
  12. well I still would like an answer to my question if anyone else has had the same problem but I "fixed" the problem. What I had bought was a breather filter/pcv valve. Problem was the motor was, for a lack of better way to explain, building too much pressure and sucking the valve cover down. So I took the new pcv/breather and bent the pcv part so it won't work and now no more problem with really loud squeak/ scream and no more valve cover trying to emplode on its self. Idles much better and over all performace is better. To answer your question what I got is a round chrome pcv/ breather filter that is about 2 1/2 inches in diameter with a normal bottom section to plug into the valve cover. Looks similar to this just smaller bottom opening, and has the side port for the line that comes of the air box for fresh air. Did that answer the question you asked?
  13. ok so i've had this on going problem on my 88 2.5L MJ. The vac hose just after the oil filler cap just got replaced with a new pcv/breather filter. Problem is its still building preassure and making a horrible squeak like noise. When I unplug it the noise goes away. has anyone had a similar problem and if so did you have any problems when you just switched to a normal breather filter like i have planned? Reason for that is if I let it make the noise and build pressure it stalls the truck.
  14. well if it means anythng to you all I did was put in a mechanical temp gauge in. I plugged it right in where you have that bolt on the side of the thermostat. I know that really didn't answer your question but at least you have a different option and i can give you pictures if you need.
  15. Do I need to keep that power steering pump sensor connected? i only ask because its a bit broke and won't stay on there. My dash lights work but when they want to now. freakin loose connection...also what temp or average temp to the comanches run at? At least for the 2.5L, bought a sunpro temp gauge since there is nothing more than a stupid light.
  16. Not sure if any one has ideas or things they have done but in the car club forum I belong to we have a page dedicated to DIY (do it yourself). I didn't notice anything like that on here and was wondering why there isn't? Example of DIY for my car is a coolent bypass line, or oil catch can, slave cylinder mod, big brake upgrade, changing injectors to over sized and other things. Get what i'm trying to say? So what do you all think?
  17. Alright just got done wiggling, switching and even scraping to see if maybe the contacts were dirty. Still got a whole lot of nothing. I did how ever get pictures of two things that I have no clue what they are. what are these?
  18. Well i'm used to Elantra club I belong to when it comes to questions that no one researched first. Anywhoo I doubt i'll replace the pistons seeing as in how i'll be in basic training for the USAF come the start of the new year if not sooner. So if the wife indeed wishes to keep the truck like we first talked about then maybe after we get settled in i'll do that. As for now I just want it to survive and get me to and from work while i'm trying to sell my Elantra GT. When it comes to the fuses, if it needs like 7.5 do you have to use that or can you use something else like 10 or 15 for example? Back to the vac lines when I redid the valve cover i hooked the lines up correctly and it still runs a bit rough. But what exactly is my problem when it comes to the sitting at a light and it'll stall if I don't give it a bit more gas? Only does that when its hot and didn't matter if the vac lines were hooked up or not. Oh almost forgot in regards to the dimmer switch...I get nothing at all. Only thing that works is the running lamps and head lights when pulled to the correct position.
  19. yeah sorry I forgot about the motor size. Its the 2.5L 4 banger. As far as fuseblock your going to have to either draw a map or have a picture if your not talking about the fuses directly under the dash. But in regards to that, all the fuses were fine. If it isn't a loose connection then maybe a burnt out bulb or three?
  20. I do apologize for not searching very well but i'm at work and shooting fo a quick answers so I can go back to working on the truck on my breaks and lunch. Problem 1. NO clue if its over heating or not. when it gets hot and you come to a complete stop it'll stall out and you have to wait 10-15mins before it'll fire back up. So I have to give it some gas when i'm at a stand still. Problem 2. i have no clue what goes where as far as vac lines off of the valve cover. I got the jeep last week and both lines were running to thier own oil cans. One port I did find and plug a line into just to see what happends makes it run rough and some times causes it to stall while at idle. Problem 3. I have no gauge lights at night so I have no clue how fast I am going or how much fuel I have unless I use a flash light. Turn signals light up along with oil light and three other things. I have a 4th problem but that requires pictures when I get home to even help out becasue I can't describe the two things I found unplugged and what not.
