Yeah all of you are correct I just didn't wanna listen. I'm sure i'll find one eventually and i'll look harder when i'm home for good. Right now i'll just be back in june/july for vacation. I still have 2 more years on my tour here in Italy.
-
Well when I had it before I went over seas I paid 500 for my 88 4 banger auto and dumped another 500 into it and it never ran right. I know the side marker needs to be replaced and that front driver side fender is a bit dented but the hood is fine. Thats a car in the background that makes it look like it sticks up. Wish it was closer so my cousin could go down a look at the floor boards so that hopefully it isn't like my old one where you could flintstone it if you ran out of gas. I love the input so far from all of you and if I did decide to go through with it can you think of anything else I should think about or bring up to them to get it for cheaper. Right now i'm thinking 650 cash in hand and they'll probably take it. My old one it had no rear brakes holes all over and so on and so forth. Had to throw it in neutral to stop in the winter or on wet roads.

I was thinking about having my cousin go look at it and if he determined that it was good enough to make the drive back to Detroit then have him buy it for me so I have something to drive when I come back to the states. Seems better than the one I owned but then again you can't tell much from a picture. Big thing I noticed was that it had no rear bumper but if everything was up to par then it would make a nice trail rig for me after a while and some mods.

Yes for those of you who might remember a few of my posts or might have seen a few pictures of the MJ when had it I am still alive and kicking. Not much has changed other than i'm Air Force now, live in Italy and have a baby girl on the way and is due in march. Its alright living here, its more fun as a place to visit than live. Well at least so far thats how I see it. Just shopping around for a car/truck for when i come back to Michigan for vacation this up comming june/july. So if you hear of anything let me know. Hope to find a Comance since i miss having one. Mainly looking for pickup truck or wrangler. Anything new and exciting going on with the club or any of you?
-
I got bored yesterday so I went out to the truck and just started looking things over making sure everything was gravy. I came across these two connectors and couldn't find out what on earth they would go to. Possibly for A/C if my MJ had it? Could I cut the ends off one of them and use it for my fog lights since I don't like my current wiring setup?
-
Well I would if I wasn't trying to get rid of my MJ so I have one less thing to worry about when I leave for basic training at the end of the month. Yeah after I read that maybe it was something I over looked I really felt like a dumb arse since I remember thinking to my self that there couldn't be anything I missed...Good call!! :dunce: yup thats me for ya.
-
Well I do believe I fixed the problem of the noise. Let it idle for a bit and drove it and got no noise. Made the belt a bit tighter since I noticed it was just a tad loose..nothing to worry about I just forgot to tighten a bolt a couple weeks of go when I was tinkering.
-
its a new belt and I think I might have to do what was mentioned and "oil" some pullies or something of the sort.
-
ummm depends on scarface's mood I suppose. Still nothing yet, its getting cold again in Michigan so today might be the last day I get to try and figure it out.
-
Well so far I can't seem to find it since some times it sounds like its comming from the passenger side of the motor close to the fire wall and other times like what you guys have mentioned, the pullies.
-
Will do, if this is fixed soon will there be complication in the form of possibly a dead MJ?
-
Alright if any of you remember I have mentioned that my MJ makes a weird noise. Its kinda like a hum and its kinda bird like at the same time. Now I hope you guys will be able to hear what I was hearing. Iheard it on the vid when I played it back on the laptop speakers but then again i've been hearing it for a while so I know what I am looking for. I don't believe you can miss it and no i'm not talking about that "clankity clank" nosie for lack of better way to explain. The noise happends when its warming up in the drive way and when I am driving. As I accerlerate it'll go up and once a certain rpm is hit it goes away. Typically taking off from a light or rolling through a parking lot. So far it doesn't matter what the out side temp is since I just fixed the heat and its 60 out today and not the usual 30 or lower in Michigan. Hope the link works. Scarface is a 88 2.5L TBI 2WD Auto.

I really don't know any more. I just know each time I look under the hood or put oil in it something doesn't seem right. I dunno but this is the best I can get at the moment. maybe someone will see something that I keep over looking. That red and white wire that comes off the battery and over the motor is for the fog lights. At the time I didn't think of anything better and thats what I came up with. That chrom thing on the valve cover was a PCV valve since the one that was there was shot and the rubber o-ring torn. I say was because that didn't help so I moddifyed it so it would stop build pressure. Before I did that you could see the valve cover sink in each time I hooked the lines up. When I got the truck the PO had both front and rear lines going into bottles thats it. -
New injectors installed... Very Happy!!

Is there anything to help the 2.5 TBI or just better off buying a new one? -

well what he posted will most likely be exactly what I need. The vac lines seem to be in the right place. Only problem is the connectors that go into the valve cover are wrong but as far as I know there is no way to get exact new ones. I'll take a picture of what I have going on so you'll have a better understanding. At the moment my truck is making a loud howl sound almost bird like I suppose. I wanna say its comming from the valve cover but I can't find exactly where on earth it is comming from. -
Well I bought him back in the middle of summer 07 and have slowly been rebuilding him. I will update photos as they come along. So far I haven't done anything cosmetic yet but thats on the way. Right now I just upgraded the wheels and rubber. Before After new wheels are on. Oh and I put fog lights on as well. Other than that just been replacing things such as radiator, air filter, soon to be heater core i have a new bumper just need someone to put it on since there might be some welding involved. In the end I plan on keeping the color just making it look new and doing the 4x4 conversion when I get the funding for it. Still has the stock 2.5L and as much as I get annoyed by it I really like it. Aside from burning oil if you don't let it warm up first, motor is practically new along with the tranny. Thing had 103K on it when I first bought it for 400 bucks and now has the same as my other DD 108K.

Mario I want your front bumper!!! That has to be one of the best setups I have ever seen. As for your MJ its beautiful and makes mine look even worse. Hope to get one or make my current mj as nice as yours.

Mobius1 replied to Mobius1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
well thats a good point. So we'll go with as close to the year as I have, 88 and mine is a anutomatic 2wd. -
Please if you all will can you pm or e-mail me your photos of your stock or close to stock 2.5L engine bays of your MJs? I'm going to be replacing a few things under the hood and I have no clue what is supposed to look like since the PO had tinkered with a few things. For example vac lines going to and from valve cover and what not.

bit fuzzy on the whole gauge cluster upgrade.
Mobius1 replied to Mobius1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hey thanks for the Link. That has to be one of the best write ups i've seen in a while. Does it matter what year xj cluster I get or should I just try and get as close to the same year as the truck is? Found a few xj clusters on ebay they were out of a 96. -

Mobius1 replied to Mobius1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
wow I really didn't think it would be that simple to adjust. since we are on the topic. Where is the location of the temp sending unit? I know where the oil one is I believe. Is the temp one right by the fire wall sorta in between the valve cover and intake? -
Alright I know i'll need the oil and temp sending units to make a full cluster work in my MJ. What i'm still fuzzy on is the tach and I don't remember an actual answer to this. How do you calibrate the tach so that its as accurate as possible? MY MJ is a 88 2.5L 2wd and if all goes accordingly next wed I might be doing the upgrade. I guess to better answer my tach question because I know some are adjustable and some are not. What are the typical rpms for the 2.5 2wd? Example rpms for 25, 45, 50, and 70mph??

motor Qs and cooling system Qs.
Mobius1 replied to Mobius1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
just go to summit and do a search for filler hose/ filler cap in regards to the newer (say 06 or 07) durango with the 4.7L? Also since you know what rad I have can I use the plugged port to hook up an over flow bottle with out the worry of it having to deal with too much pressure? Understand what i'm asking? If not, aside from trying to do what you've already told me what I should do I would also like to have a over flow tank hooked up as well if possible. Also thanks a lot for your help and speedy responses. -

I think the IAC might be part of the problem and found a new one for 88 bucks and change with free shipping. All I did to add fluid was take the upper hose fill it until I couldn't put any more in, run the truck until it was warm/hot and added more in. Did that until I couldn't do it any more and no more over heating like I had with the old rad...aside from the old rad having a hole in it. -

Mobius1 replied to Mobius1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
well i've been running that renix rad since the end of summer no problems what so ever. How would I go about adding in a way to dump fluid in? Also it was extreamly easy to take out the old rad and put in that new one. About the easiest thing i've done to the truck. Where on earth is that IAC and is it something that can be replaced in my drive way with very limited tools?
