SaharaTJ
First questoin; with the 2.5L 5 speed combo are the axles geared at 4.11 like yj's, tj's and the rest? Second; Ok from what i have read from reider racing catalogue the gears I have for tj d35 should fit in the mj 35 correct? I know the mj's 30 is reverse so i know the tj's gears won't fit it. Reason i'm asking is i have a set of 4.88 already to be put in on my d35 for my tj but if i can take the 4.11 out of the d35 and then get a set of matching gears for both d30's. thanks in advance
pingpong
The gears themself are the same for the D35, but the side gears in the carrier might be different. The ones from the MJ SHOULDbe, but there is a chance that you have an early non-c-clip axle. Like you all ready know the front gears are not interchangable. As for the 4 cyl all having 4.10's.... well I have seen them both ways. Some have had 3.73, and others have had 4.10's. Patrick
Eagle
MOST of the 4-cyl XJs and MJs were 4.10s, but in the early years (encompassing most of the MJ run) that wasn't as consistent as during the last years of the XJ, when ALL 4-cylinders were 4.10 regardless of transmission, options, or any other considerations. A 4-cyl MJ could also be 4.56, 3.73, 3.54 or even 3.31. You really need to verify. It isn't safe to assume.
