xj92
Anybody have a picture of a '91+ 2.5L coil and where it mounts? I'm upgrading my '88 that mounted in a different spot.
Geonovast
91+ mounts on the block, by the passenger motor mount.
Geonovast
They're completely different. I don't see how you could use a 91+ coil in a Renix.
xj92
I upgraded the wiring harness, intake manifold, throttle body, distributor, cap & rotor, all sensors, installed power steering, put in a '93 water pump, alternator, A/C (along with all the brackets), harmonic balancer, '93 coolant bottle & windshield washer fluid bottle, etc. etc. I've converted everything over during the last month. Hasn't been worth it, but there's less work to go on and finish it than it would be to go back. I found a junkyard '93 with the 2.5L and grabbed the bracket & coil, so that part is done. xj92
Speaking of mounted things, what is that sensor that mounts into the power steering line on 2.5L engines? I thought it was a knock sensor but then saw it mounted into a fitting on the power steering line in a junkyard xj.

That's a sensor outputs a signal to the ECU which bumps up the idle about 1000 RPM when turning the steering wheel near the stops. Suppossed to prevent engine stalling, and it's only on the 4-banger. xj92
I'll have to get a p/s line off a 4-banger so I can mount that sensor later on. I have my new coil mounted, but I still have a few stray wires on my wiring harness, so I'm wondering if any wires attach to the coil mounting bracket. I know on my '93 4.0 it has 2 wires, but I don't know if the 2.5 does the same thing, and I only have one stray wire that looks like it would mount, so not sure.
