88XJSport Posted February 29, 2008 Share Posted February 29, 2008 I had the long sunvisors in my 88 xj, and since I added an overhead console, the visors were too long. I picked up some new visors today, and was wondering if anyone knows how to drill the ceiling for the new clips, without going through the roof?? Thanks. ridergoatee Posted February 29, 2008 Share Posted February 29, 2008 The part of the roof that the clips mount to is double walled and runs the width of the cab.So in fact,you are not drilling into the roof itself,but into that. Just don't drill thru it and the roof! The exact spot where the clips mount to are also raised (small little square bumps,for lack of official terminology). So I'm not sure if all MJ's are stamped out that way from factory. Here's a poor pic I took with cell phone at night.
