2.8l v6 swapped to a 304 v8 or 259 i6

wondering if the 304 v8 matches up to an ax5 5 speed tranny in my 86 comanche if not which trannies will fit it. and also will a 258 match up with the ax5 tranny :hateputers:

I am not sure about bolting up... but in do know that the ax5 isn't going to stand up to much more then a little bit v6. Probably have to swap to the AX15 before anything...

 

I'm sure someone will chime in with a good swap combo.

The 304 (and the 360 and the 390/401) and the 258 all mate up with the AX-15, not the AX-5.

 

A 304 would shred an AX-5 in about 45 minutes ... less, if you put your foot in it.
