Is there a decent bed mat available new?

I seen online the carpeted type bedliner but afraid they would retain water. Is there some kind of universal bed mat available? I am looking to protect the finish on my truck. Maybe I should make something out of thin composite deck wood? Composite fence railing?

Try a horse mat. You will have to trim it to fit
