90comanchegirl
Ok so I'm going to post a pic so you guys can see what I'm talking about. Tried to post a video to show you the wiring they have going on but the file is to large. So as you can there's a wire cut at the clip (this is under my dash on the drivers side) and the yellow wire you can see spliced in goes thru my firewall and was wired into my ballaster resistor also shown in pics What exactly is that thats been cut, like what is that clip for? The deeper I get into this truck the worse its getting 🤦🏻♀️
eaglescout526
Does the Jeep currently run? Looks like it’s for the fuel pump power and something happened between the ballast resistor and the fuel pump.
90comanchegirl
It was running for years (not sure how many but longer then 5 years for sure)with the ballaster bypassed and the yellow wire tied in like that. It started running really rough one morning so I changed tps, idle control, map and knock sensor and did a tune up. Plugs showed it was running rich which I knew. Tested my fuel pressure it showed 9 lol so I just changed that now I'm about to put fuel back in. Figured I would put the ballast resistor back in since I was able to find one and discovered the random yellow wire hahaha and now thats where I'm at. eaglescout526
Huh. Interesting. You don’t really need the ballast resistor. It was put in place shortly in 88 to quiet down the fuel pump. But you can put it back if you’d like. Though since it’s running, I guess I wouldn’t question it. If you wanted you could always take a VOM and do a continuity test on the wires and see if they go to the fuel pump like I think.
