First image is when I got this thing for $800 almost two years ago. 2.5 / AX4 / A/C / 3.55 gears. Previous owner took the alternator and all the brackets off, and give up halfway through reassembly.

Next up is after reassembling everything. Alternator was fine. Engine was loud.

To fix the noisy engine, tore apart the front and found a very nasty timing cover and timing chain well past its expiration. Used a 4.0 double roller as a replacement. 9-3127 Cloyes. Runs quiet now.

Decided to level the front so used XJ "Upcountry" package 1" lift springs. Worked perfect. 
 

KYB Gas-A-Just all the way around as well.

Next, rattle canned the roof white and the grille black. Swapped the headlight bezels for chrome and went with conversion headlights that use H1 bulbs.

A deer decided ram the fender last year. Then the water pump went out. Then the (internal) slave cylinder.

Now swapping in an (external slave) RWD AX5 from a 2000 XJ. Also installing a Core Shifters short throw. 
 

Had to splice the clutch lines together. Used the factory clutch hose. Found an adapter from 7/16-24 to 1/2-20. Then 5/8 steel line to compression fitting to the external slave nylon hose. 
 

had to swap to the cable driven speedo housing from my AX4.

Everything else looks the same. Not finished yet. Maybe finish it up tonight.
