xjcrawlr
Can anybody here read a VIN? I have a 92 eliminator and I know only 900 MJ's were made in 92, so I'd like to find out if mines an early, or a late year (end of the line so to speak) model. here's the VIN 1J7-FJ66S1NL-142735 S.O NO. feerocknok
According to http://www.vehicleidentificationnumber.com/jeep_2.html, which I randomly found, this info came up for the first digits. Hope that helps with something. Country: USA Manufacturer: Jeep (USA) Type: TRUCK GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating ): 1819-2272 kg Model: Cherokee - 4WD Series: Sport/Classic Body type: Comanche, 2-door pick-up Engine: 4,0 litres, I-6, HO Control digit: Has passed check Year: 1992 Plant: Toledo #1 Serial number: 142735
ROADLESS
If i remember correctly, the last six numbers (in your case 142735) are the number of vehichles assembled at the plant (Todelo in your case). Obviously, that is not the number of MJ's made for your year. Maybe thats a cummulative number for 86-92 Comanche's produced and/or they produced other vehicles there. This is speculative however without doing further research!

xjcrawlr
Cool! Thanks for all the info. I'm trying to find out the exact build date and I sent an email DC to ask for the build sheet. They were unable to find that, but they did go on to say that it appears to be an end of production number.
Guest
I have something wrong with my VIN too. My comanche is a 1988 for export. I am in Argentina. VIN is 1JEYL631EJT2360003. The meaning of these 17 digits match the vehicle features but when I type the VIN in some VIN DECODER the answer is that the VIN is not recognized. Does anybody know what could be the reason? I would also like to get the build sheet of my truck. How can I get it? Thank you Fernando
barnygeroell
id did find a copy of my buildsheet taped to the "inside" of the doorcover at the passenger side, try a look. @ fernando is this the vin from the windshield? in germany they don´t accept the US VIN and give them a new one @ all i sometimes do have the feeling a Toledo, they did not only use whatever they did find at the shelf even they did use whatever number they thought of, without thinking if the number was correct
