KingSideswipe
According to the Haynes manual and the US Patent code this is the decel valve. However, I've been unable to find this it. It has a broken piece on the lower part under the vacuum line. My bf saw somewhere the part was discontinued. Is there an aftermarket part somewhere or do I have to find a way to bypass this entirely? From the looks of it the previous owner attempted to bypass it and that's part of the stalling and rough idling problem. A new carb is on the way and I redid some of the dry rotted vacuum lines. I only know the 4.0's and absolutely nothing about the 2.8's.
The86manche
I'll be honest my 2.8 does not have it and never did when I bought it. Never had an issue. Most of the emissions stuff was bypassed and I just finished the rest. I'd say just remove it altogether if you can
zomeizter
I've noticed that all hoses have to be hooked up to the proper port or the whole "system" gets screwed up, even only one hose with a leak will make my 2.8 run like crap. I've always considered swapping in a Weber or whatever aftermarket carb there is but the damned thing just keeps truckin along. Mine has the Federal emission control stuff and that valve you mentioned is not equipped either. If I were you, I'd make an effort to keep it all where it goes for best performance but then again, 2.8s suck nonetheless...
