LowerEnder
I bought this truck at the start of this year. It had set for quite some time. I popped the hood and started scratching my head. I seen some tips by some of yall comanche gods and got to work. It has 205k on the engine. I converted to open system. New Dual Eletric fans. New Radiator. New Temp sensor. New Heater core. New Map sensor. New Fuel pump. New Fuel filter. New Plugs, Wires, and Distributor. New Starter. Changed the oil. Check all fluids. New Thor intake. New vacuum lines. This this still runs rough. It falls on its face even in first gear. Idles rough. There is also a tick maybe lifter? I kinda think it's a burnt valve or maybe carbon build up. I'm not a mechanic at all but If there is a shade tree I'm underneath it in the dirt. I would like to get some quick advise on how to proceed. Thanks kindly. cruiser54
I would begin by going to my website and completing Tips 1 through 5. and Tip 13 for sure. VERY unlikely a burned valve. Likely a sticky lifter. Put a half quart of Marvel Mystery Oil in the crankcase. Also, if you expect a sticky lifter on start up, do this: Shut the engine off for a minute and restart. How does it sound after that? Let us know.
