Black trim paint

Recommended Posts

Anybody know a good rattle can paint for black bumpers and black trim?

Also - flat, matte, semi-gloss or gloss?

trying to freshen everything up. So would prefer whatever is closest to original.

mine is pretty flat right now but I don’t think it started out life that way.

Do not settle for anything less than SEM. If you don't have an automotive paint supply store close by, order it. I am a fan of rattle cans, but department store brands will not deliver the results your MJ deserves.

I'll get the number for the "trim black" tonight and post tomorrow. I think it's the SEM-39143. Trim is usually a satin, bumpers semi.

Thank you. I commute about 30 miles each way for work and have two SEM paint supply stores that I know of that I can hit along the way.

39143 is the number for your plastic trim. I do not currently have a can for the bumpers, but just ask for a slightly "glossier" finish (than 39143) for your bumpers. As ghetdjc320 said, make sure to prep. Wax / grease remover [rattle can + wipe down]; adhesion promoter (rattle can) then apply light coats of paint till you reach required coverage.

Cleaner and promoter do not have to be SEM. Less costly options are out there, but running around town at $5gal may offset it.
