Alternator doesn't line up...

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I'm lost. I put a new alternator in my 90 MJ, 2.5l. Even with the alternator snugged as far forward as it goes, its not centered with the other pulleys and the belt hangs off by 1/3rd. Anyone ran into this before, have any advice? The alternator was an exact replacement for the original, but it is offset. I'm stumped.

Go get your old alternator and swap pulleys .

I gave it back as a core deposit, like a dumbass. I could go to a junkyard and find a new one but I don't want to waste time and money if its going to end up offset like the new one.

The brand I used was a BBB 7816-7 ,I got lucky and  it came with the correct pulley . However, being that the CS alternators fit a variety of vehicles it may also have a different pulley .
