1995 XJ stalled out while driving on interstate.

It would not restart. I pulled fuel line, excellent pressure.

It still would not start.

I did not have a screw driver.

I had it towed home. Pulled dist, found rotor melted like a burnt piece of popcorn, and the metal contact in laying on the distributor.

WTF happened???

Get your battery checked. Might have spiked & caused a meltdown, but if it still cranks it's probably not that. More likely your voltage regulator failed & shot too much juice to the rotor.
