Tail gate questions

Whats going on everyone so i have a few questions.  So i was searching but didnt really find what i needed. ive been having trouble opening my tail gate i have alot of slop in the handle and i notice for the first time one of the metal support rods on the side is all bent up I'm curious to know..

Has anyone updated this with a cable or something else. i also know the cup the tail gate goes in is pulled out i have 2 hole like indention above the cups with nothing in them are they suppose to be fastened down.

lastly is there curvature to the tail gate or is mine just bent.
