captainkettel
So I have a 1986 XLS 4x4 with the 2.8L motor. The 5 speed transmission has the drain plug on the bottom and the fill plug is located on the PS. I can't find a tag to ID. This is the original transmission since I have owned this Comanche since new... Can anyone tell me the transmission model. Or where I might find the tags. Every manual I have looked at doesn't show the drain or fill plugs in the location of those on mine. This is a US make. Any ideas out there?... captainkettel
Wow... on a whim I checked my glove box and there it was. My original owners manual. It shows the drain on the bottem and the fill on the passengerside just like mine. Still have no idea what model it is though... Looks more like a AX15 than the AX5... But then again it is a AMC from the old days...lol...+
Pete M
AX-15 came behind the 4.0. you have an AX-
Green Mesa XJ
Yep AX-5. It’s essentially a Toyota light truck transmission. So is the ax-15 but the ax-15 is stout enough to take a lot more power.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
