tarmac2dirt
Getting ready to put all new weather seal in the MJ. I have already had it apart once and notices some dried up form sponge material in front top corner, notice the small hole area in pic. I can't seem to find any info on what this stuff is or how deep it goes into this spot. This foam material just crumbles when its touched. Any one have any ideas on replacing this foam, or how deep it goes in the small fixed window channel. Thanks
SVPete
Your photo had me confused until I figured out it is the passenger door....I went and looked at my truck and see the same thing. Having taken out the triangle windows, I recall noticing a residue similar to that on the screws and on the top of the brackets that the screws go into. Perhaps is was there to provide a weather seal for the screw holes. Exactly what is it? I don't know. Maybe try using some closed cell foam weather stripping to replace it if you pull out the triangle windows. You can find that at any hardware store. tarmac2dirt
Thanks for your thought on this SVPete. I have many other things to do before I dig back into the weather stripping. I will post more on what I dig out of that spot and what I use to fill it back in. Need to finish the A/C first its getting hot here in New Mexico. Once that's finished I will work on the weather stripping and going to put in a electric window kit too. Thanks again
