WahooSteeler
Recently had my floor pans repaired and the pass side "cross member" had to be removed to fit in the new pan properly. Also, the top part of the "sandwich", as I call it, to the frame rails had to be trimmed back on both sides as you can see in the pics. My question is, I'm pretty sure I've seen plenty of pics where this has been done on other floor repairs and these items are not replaced (see Plain Jane's current build thread). So is the general opinion that there is not a substantial structural loss by not replacing these pieces? Fyi, the "rust dust" on the driver floor is from the pieces that were stuck to the bottom of the floor padding when I laid it back in for the past few weeks. Pete M
I've not heard a single complaint after removal.
WahooSteeler
Thanks Pete. I was actually more concerned about the small cross member, seems it would add to some rigidity and help in a side impact absorption at least a little. But not gonna sweat it now.
