kook911
I just put a entire ac into my Comanche. I removed the dash swapped out the HAVC boxes. Now my problem is when I start the truck my air will only blow out of the floor. I checked every line in the engine bay with a vacuum gauge and all hold vacuum. I used my cheorkee as a reference to make sure all the lines are ran correctly. Also made sure the check valves are working and they are. I looked under the dash just to make sure that none of the air lines popped off and all looks good. Just trying to figure this out on what it could be before I boot the dash completely back in. Keyav8r
Check the vacuum line manifold that clips onto the back of the HVAC control. Mine came loose when I pulled and re-installed the dash. Had to pull the control back out and wiggle my fingers back behind it to get it reconnected. Did you put in a new evaporator or swap the whole box out from a donor vehicle? I check the back of the unit and all was good. I also swapped in a different one and same thing. Also I swapped everything from a donor vehicle. It was working at the time of the swap. Here is what i found out from messing with it this afternoon. I can hear it changing when you switch from ac to vent to heat to defrost. On heat and defrost it will blow in all the settings. I can go from one to four and it will change. When I switch it to vent the lever will drop down. I get air coming out of the vents but barley. So any ideals? Fernando87mj
Make sure the wiring harness is not blocking this door When I replaced my heater core I went through the same thing with the exact same symptoms. Keyav8r
Getting the wiring harness in the right position is one of the hard parts of re-installing the dash (like any part is easy). Almost all of my wire ties/anchors that held the harness in place broke the part off that hooks into the dash. Had to do some creative rigging to keep it where it needed to be for the dash to fit back in correctly. This is the second dash I've completely removed from one of these trucks and the two were different in some details. Best bet is to take lots of photos as it comes out.
