comancheman Posted July 20, 2007 Share Posted July 20, 2007 i just bought an old 1981 kawasaki js 440 and i am tryin to get it running good but i have a really stupid question: where can i hook up a hose so the motor is cooled? also there is a fill plug on the motor by the ring gear but i have no clue what to put in it i don't see why it would require oil feel free to relocate or delete this post if i am to far from the normal comanche world Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I will tell you, check compression, if it is good, then check spark. if that is good, commence cleaning the carb, fuel pump, and replacing the fuel filters (the two in the tank and one in-line). replace any bad fuel lines, and she should start right up. you can run it about 15 sec. and then shut it down, that's enough time to reve her up and see if it's running right. comancheman Posted July 20, 2007 Author Share Posted July 20, 2007 ive had it running. it ran before i bought it then the starter went bad i picked it up off my buddy for 200 bucks bought a used starter. it wouldnt start until i squirted it w/ some carb cleaner now it runs but not very well it idles sometimes its just very inconsistent. its a diaphram style carb which i will probably end up rebuilding. i don't have a digi camera but will try to find some pictures online. (like in "Billy Madison) My jet skis (haven't used them in a year or more) have a screw in thing thing on the back of the haul that is a one way pressure activated valve. look for something like that, although, mine are 2000 Sea Doo something or other millennium editions...
