HOrnbrod
This is the supply/return hose hookup for the pump, the hoses go to the steering gear box. Do you have a power steering gear box mounted or a manual box?

HOrnbrod
Looks like you need a power steering gear and hoses to connect it to the pump. I can't see the steering gear box in your pics.
AMC86Kid
can you tell me where the steering gear is located?
HOrnbrod
In your last pic it's the unit the the steering intermediate shaft from the steering column is connected to. That's the input to the steering gear. The output is the Pitman arm (curved piece) connected to the steering linkage.
AMC86Kid
oh ok i found it it was hiding under the smog canister so i have hooked it up the way i believe is correct but i was wondering if i could get anyones opinion on if it looks like i did it right? do i just fill it up with the correct amount of power steering fluid and I'm good to go? here are the pics the whole thing close up of the right side close up of the left side
HOrnbrod
Plumbing looks correct. Fill the reservoir with PS fluid up to the mid mark on the dipstick, start the engine and check for leaks first. If okay turn the steering wheel from lock-to-lock several times to bleed the air out of the system. You should see fluid bubbling in the reservoir. If all goes well, the bubbling will stop eventually. Top the fluid level off to the "Warm" mark on the cap dip stick and you're done.
AMC86Kid
thanks i did exactly what you said and i was able to get the wheels to turn fully in both directions with very little resistance in the steering wheel I'm happy that it works now i will get working on my power brakes i will start a new post for that Thanks HornBrod

AMC86Kid
oh yes there is some bubbling going on but i am going to replace the hoses and clean the parts so i will worry about the bubbling later when i rebuild it back together
